I feel like LDU could be a similar scenario

Obviously a way better player so I mean it to a lesser extent, but it feels like LDU doesn't change our midfield that much since he is on the slower side and not a good kick either. A midfield of Macrae Steele LDU Pou still probably gets comfortably beaten by Rozee, Butters, JHF or Warner, Heeney, Gulden. Paying 1.5mil or around that for him per year isn't the best use of our money imo

Callaghan was the one that got away. Not as proven as LDU but has the attributes to make a real difference to our midfield by adding that extra dimension

I'd prefer Richards over LDU for probably 300k+ less

That's why we are hoping Travaglia and Wilson can make it as outside mids as our only real spark is Jones who is rising 30 and is injured more times than not.

BTW good to see him out there, injury free and running on top of the ground at training today.

Taranto just couldn't get fit at Richmond. LDU is resilient at least. He's not Horny-Francis but he is quite dynamic and more contested in the clinches that Macrae and Steele. He's got a bit of spread running too. I think he'd be good for us.

That said I'm not as obsessed with inside mids as some. I'm not too worried which way they go. Hopefully Phillipou pushes the need away regardless.

A star small forward and a high end tall defender look like the obvious holes to me and then a bit of depth.

The player that I'd get involved with is Warner. Do a Buddy on WC and snatch him under their noses. Get The Rymp on the phone to him.

I’d imagine it would be a 50-50 split like we did with Marshall/Ryder

Both can play forward but both play their best footy in the ruck.

Marshall played 103 of 126 minutes in Saturday. All in the ruck.

Keeler played 108/126. But the 20 minutes he rucked in the second half we got obliterated.

I’m giving TDK those 108 minutes but im also giving him10/15 minutes of Marshall’s ruck minutes and let’s save Rowan 10/15 a game up forward.

Bergman has had minutes through the mids and showed good signs. He is big, has athleticism and a decent kick. I think he'd actually be really good in the middle bc he's very balanced. He can play as the midfield sweeper to free up Pou Trav Wilson etc to be very attacking while also having the ability to be creative himself as a kind of quarterback - something that the likes of Drew/Rowbottom don't do as players who play the same role

900k for Aleer is overs but its the premium we have to pay to get him across the line. In the context of the new salary cap, i think it'd be around 760k which is less than what we paid for Howard? Correct me if I'm wrong

They rate him as the equivalent of what we rate NWM.

Some think he is better.

That’s the short answer.
