Oscar isn't as important to us right now, as he is to other teams in contention who need a KPF an probably only need 1-2 good seasons from Oscar.

We don't need two KPF's 26-27 when we're so far away from contending.

And he's being a campaigner with is contract. No half decent captain holds their club over a barrel the way Oscar is to us.

It was nice knowing you Oscar, best of luck at your new club, mate.

I'm not saying we need to cave to all his demands and we have to keep him at any cost - there's a lot of water to go under the bridge yet, I just don't like the way a portion of the fanbase is turning on him and disrespecting him by saying things like he was always overrated when that's clearly not the case. He's obviously not performing at the level we or he would like at this early point of the season but we know he can play and he deserves to be given a bit more grace than he's getting at the moment.

He has the right to push for a better contract and it's his managers job to do so but he should be given the chance to prove he deserves an improved contract over the season before everyone starts calling him a campaigner over his contract negotiations.

If he's being a campaigner about it then it's Clarke's job to hold firm on our position and if we then aren't able to reach to an agreement we will be well compensated. If the club has caved early and met his demands before he's proved himself this year then take it up with Clarke, not Oscar.

Ideal situation would be show improvement this year and be more competitive but still get a top 4 pick, package up Whorks picks for another top 10. Take 2 top 10s plus NGA and FS this year, another top 10 next year. Then grab Warner as a free agent and start trading our picks for established players once Tassie comes and they comprise the Draft. Could set us up for multiple flags if they get it right like the Whorks three peat when GCS and GWS comprised the Draft making it impossible for other teams to catch up.

Bit of a shame, would’ve really liked Warner at the club next year, albeit the trade cost would have been significant.

Keep our R1 pick and use it on someone like Sharp or Rodriguez or the like

It’ll also mean we don’t have to tap into our 2026 draft hand to secure Warner

Ed Allan sounds just like the type of players we've liked to draft lately, big-bodied athletes

Can find it a state league level.

We don’t really know with our guys because by the 3rd year they are normally playing week in, week out afl level.

Will be interesting to see if we throw him an overs offer if Chad, Oscar and maybe Harley ain’t here.

4th year and should be plug and play in our midfield along with Sheldrick and maybe 2 very high end mids

He’s probably thinking worst case scenario for the Swans but the leaks do seem odd atm. Even more so for some like Cal to report it like he has, he normally has good inside word rather then body language vibes.

Cal is also barracking hard for the Dons to get Harley so no doubt a bit of angle to a lot of his reporting like most media PR people.

Gettable could be a great listen tomorrow.

Our next two years should solely be focused on the draft and at least have a skeleton of a decent emerging young team the next time he's out of contract. Would it have been good to get him? Sure, but we've traded away so much and gotten back not a whole lot in recent years, let's build through the draft with the BEST PLAYERS AVAILABLE...if I see any more talk of a split pick I'm gonna f*cking hurl.

And we really need to get our West Australian scouting sorted. Geelong and Sydney are scouting our kids better than we are and we got them right under our noses.

If we got him id still be nervous we dont have enough decent picks/depth, id feel like we need to bring in 1-2 other mature best 22 players along with Warner to make the most of him. The likes of Starcevich for example(yes I know concussions)

If we go the draft again its a bit easier, just probably want to find a couple of young players who have lacked opportunity to bring in cheap, like Sheldrick/Allan types that have been mentioned many times to help cover until the 1st-2nd year players are more ready

They are young players who havent had opportunity due to being in constantly contending sides. They would immediately give us a different look and be better depth than we have, plus would cost no more than a late 2nd rounder

Any mid in that age bracket and is best 22 wont be cheap, looking at a likely first rounder.
