Really is time to let it go.....
I wish him the best.

People are reassessing their lives lately, sportsmen and women included.
A 25 year world number 1 just retired, because it is the right time,
Dustin Martin is taking some time off from footy.
I think they are asking if they really want the weight of the moralists and do gooders forced onto them simply so they can excel at their chosen sport or profession.

It s all well and good for others to tell them that they earn the big dollars so have to "fit" the mould.

We obviously don't expect anything like this from the criminal campaigners in the current liberal Government!!!

So sports men and women are our proxy statesmen?

It's BS. always has been and alway will be.

They are just normal people, fallible like every single one of us, who happen to be good at a particular thing, controlled by a set of manufactured rules.

Rules which are incidentally, increasingly constructed to "match fix" for the benefit of gambling concerns.

Stevo's been dropped. Very interesting move by North. He was sluggish after round one and have to say, for a former Rising Star he certainly has not been performing to the level he should be. I know people will say we gave up on him but to be honest, we could have saved ourselves a real problems and cut our losses. He's talented but then again they all are. Dropped from a bottom side ... embarrassing for sure.

That's a tall pulpit you're preaching from PE.

It doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, the media control information dissemination and form public opinion and no sporting body can stand against it.

As for the liberal govt - how do you think it got into power in the first place?

Driven there by a sustained media blitz on every outlet from well before the last election.

Naughton was the obvious pick on a need basis. Hine is supposed to be a recruiting guru. In retrospect, it looks a gigantic stuff up to me.

Think was more what Happened after he was Drafted as 1st Season and a Half he was Amazing

Your scatter-gun approach has somewhat confused the issue. I don't quite understand who are suggesting should move on.

As to Ash Barty, I wonder how we might have reacted to the early retirement of a white male tennis player with identical credentials and age. We haven't had a tennis champion for many years and are now unlikely to do so again in either men's or women's tennis. The only Australian open game I watched was Ash Barty's final, and I was impressed by the manner in which she won.

I am disappointed she retired so young and at the top of her game. I like to believe that elite sports people have a burning passion to be the best and stay on top once they are there. In any case, retirement is her decision as it will be mine not to watch any games in next year's Australian Open, given that no Australian is likely to make the finals.

We desperately needed a key position player, particularly a CHF. And don't call me 'bro'. Our ages are obviously decades apart.
I thought bro sounded more friendly and more appropriate than grumpy old sook.
Besides Naughton played his juniors and started as a Defender though.
Jaidyn and our 18 swoop squad played really well and got us to a GF.
Then Fast forward we probably wouldn’t have been able to afford him after our salary fiasco anyway ( oh but wait that hindsight doesn’t suit you ) Booo our recruiting

He wasn’t really. As a junior he was a good key defender with an awkward kick. I don’t think anyone could have predicted he’d evolve in to such a good forward. Otherwise it’s unlikely he’d have even lasted to our pick 6 imo.

Yeah at the time of the draft most Pies fans who didn't want Stephenson were salty about him being picked ahead of Darcy Fogarty rather than Naughton.

I was one of them! 😂

Might have to rethink my assessment of this bloke. I was adamant he'd be delisted 3 years after he left us, heading towards a second year delisting at this rate. Watched him last week and it hurt my soul how weak and soft he was.

Stephenson won the rising star and was part of a side 1 kick away from a flag. It wasnt that a big a stuff up. Yes in hindsight should have gone Naughton or maybe Hunter Clark. We have now replaced Stephenson with someone potentially better in Henry
