i think geelong will eat him alive. hes ok against weaker opponents but i think their pressure on the defender will expose him. im not about the last game im about who is best for the next one.
He will devour Stengle re.

He was very good today…….and he isn’t my favourite player.

I hope your optimism is well placed.

If he gives Stengle a bath I will be happy as a pony with a rocket launcher re

Essendon coughed it up coming out of defence thanks to the pressure put on by the Cats, often poor kicking under pressure enabling a cats player to come in and mark across the front or spoil when the Dons thought they were free and clear.
I'd argue that you don't try to beat Geelongs strength and pressure with size. You try to beat it with pace and quick ball movement. Noble is one of the very best runners in the league and in the more direct game plan, he's moving it really quickly. Plus you can't drop a player who is excelling - you've got to give him the opportunity to overcome something that you are concerned about.

Has Johnson even played a VFL game? I’m hopeful he will be handy, but I think he’s a fair ways off.
Yeah. Great point. Though, we need that extra med that plays tall and who is a natural forward. For me, Johnson is the man. Played SANFL seniors as a forward that was a live wire. We need somebody that at least can threaten to kick a couple of goals and not allow the Cats defenders to zone off. Last year we played bloody Madge in the forward line as a tagger to stop Stewart from running around, doing whatever he wanted.

Oh ok.

I went to the Cats v Dons match with mates and two things particularly apparent were

Geelong looked physically much bigger and intimidated the bombers right round the ground.

I'll be the first to admit I just don't rate Noble and he's one I would always only play as depth, so I am sure Im a little biased, but I do think he is not suited to the game we are about to play. I doubt the match committee or most supporters agree with me and that's cool.
I agree! 😊

First Geelong game with my baby daughter around. Surrounded by feral Geelong fans down here in the pivotonian wildnerness, and she already has a cats onesie. Please god of kek, Mr McLaughlin, rig this game so that my daughter can be nauseated away from being a Geelong nuffie, and barrack for the black and white!

The pivotonian wilderness is a difficult place for a magpie.
Truly hope your daughter follows the black and white path.

Geelong are a god awful pack of A holes who should be shot straight into the sun.

Been down here since COVID started. Massive error. I have asked every one of them why they hate on pies fans, and not one has ever given me a good answer. They give me a filthy look when I point out they are all brainwashed :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

The best thing for Saturday night is reading the advertiser Sunday seeing us flog the cats. Add that to shops being absolutely deserted.

What do you reckon would be better than that? Flogging the blues when we play them, when they are top of the ladder? Payback for 2012 :rage:

In. Maynard
Out. Kreuger (inj) T.Brown

B. Maynard Madgen Quaynor
HB. Howe Moore Pendlebury

HF. Elliott Mihocek Lipinski
F. McCreery Cameron Ginnivan
R. Grundy Adams De Goey
I. Noble N.Daicos Henry Hoskin-Elliott
E. Macrae (sub) Bianco T.Brown Cox

Not sure if we'd go with the height as sub again, as Fly mentioned in the presser for today's game. Will try watch the VFL tomorrow and adjust accordingly here, would love a big game from Macrae though

With the VFL to play today there’s a couple of spots up for grabs.

Out: Madgen, Kreuger, Cameron, T.Brown

In: Maynard, Cox (my preference).

The 2 other spots (sub & inside mid) should be from the best players this week.

Also a note, although WHE played okay, we should keep an eye out on him. He needs to be playing on his limit each week. The numbers he produces could be replicated by a younger player. That’s how we evolve.

Let’s see if I can go 2/2

Out: Kreuger (inj), Brown (omitted)
In: Maynard, Cox or Cameron

I say or only because I don’t know if Cox is over his ankle yet. McRae didn’t seem sure in the presser either.

So if Cox isn’t physically ready, it’ll be Cameron. If he is, then Cox comes in

Didn't Kreuger dislocate his shoulder? No way he plays next week.

Not really sure what the point of Tyler Brown playing is? Just floats around and gets 1 or 2 useless handballs every quarter.

In: Maynard Cox

Out: Kreuger Brown
Whatever his injury, in his press conference McCrae was resigned to him not playing next week.

For me it’s starts in the middle v Pussies. Limit their use and it doesn’t matter if we have weaknesses like Noble & Madge down back

Start with Adams, JDG & Maynard in the middle and ravage them!

Why call Noble a 'weakness'? He has played well both weeks. Madgen on the other hand ....

Interestingly enough there was a game Round 7, 2020 when Bucks in the pre-game said we'd look to exploit them for pace. At the time I thought it was a bit of a stretch because I didn't see us as a particularly fast team, so it was probably more about how slow Geelong are by foot than saying anything about us.

We went on to beat them that day (granted it was in a weird covid year with short quarters, in a season where although Geelong made the grand final, we also made a semi) and made them look particularly slow.

Even though they're still probably a good side (to be determined), that's what Sydney did to them. But by the same token if you don't bring the pressure, they'll do to you what they did to Essendon.

Out current game plan gives us a good chance to sneak one here, but AGAIN I have to try keep my expectations low 😉

Darcy Moore on Cameron. Who’s going to play on Hawkins?

Maynard can take Cameron, he’s not a contested marking beast like Hawkins. I’d like to think Moore and Howe can cover Hawkins. Playing off him as is their stength. Nobody can man up Hawkins that we have available, but Howe or Moore are excellent third men up. It’s really going to be won in the midfield
