I’d say he has gone backwards this year but maybe sideways is more appropriate?

Even the doper fans are starting to get restless about the form of their favourite crab.

They had an off night but they lifted v the swans 🤪

But seriously, they are doing something that discourages frees against or encourages frees for in such a way that no other team can match them on average. I’d be amazed if there wasn’t an element of coaching involved.
Subconscious psychological bias due to the blue in their jumper? I know it sounds ridiculous but for the past 20 years, Dogs, North, Blue, WC have always being the top of the free kicks list, with Geelong not far behind.

I posted this once before and it was suggested by another poster that the same thing has been discussed is the soccer world, with teams wearing blue supposedly more likely to be awarded penalties than non (tho I’ve not fact checked this).

A mate of mine claimed there was a study that informed port’s choice of teal in their uniform. Allegedly it did show a blue, the teal used by port was close to an ideal colour to attack beneficial umpiring. Same study allegedly identified yellow as the worst colour 😮

But I was never able to find the study. In the USA there is a bias around predominately black and predominately white. You can probably Guess in which direction those biases work…

A quick Google just now a few studies have identified an effect of red (negative) at least when it is against a blue team.

Edit: it might be a dark/intense v light/calming colour contrast that informs the bias and some cultural elements in the mix too.
