Hinkley is cooked
That's bad for us.
The last thing we want is for him to go & they get a real coach - still too much talent on their list to let them have a competent coach.

Need Hinkley re-signed for the next 6-8 years, unless they're replacing him with Leon Cameron

Richo is one of the best forwards of all time, he played 17 seasons in a higher scoring era and still fell 20% short of 1000. He'd have had to play 3 more seasons kicking 70 goals to get there. You're making a great case of why it's becoming so hard to kick 1000 career goals.

Peter Hudson can believe what he wants.
Yeah, and nobody will ever break 4 minutes for the mile.

In my adult life the amount of sporting accomplishments that would 'never' be topped that have subsequently been topped and topped again are ample. I fully take on board all the reasons why it will be more difficult to kick 1,000 goals in a career - but I still don't think it will be impossible. Eventually there will be a forward who can manage 350-400 games and all they need to do average <2.7 goals a game to hit the 1,000 with that kind of game tally.

When Darren Lockyer hit 355 games in the NRL people said it would never be beaten, including the bloke that Lockyer surpassed. Cameron Smith did it within 6 years and went on to play another 75 games beyond that.
I didn't say it would never be achieved again under any circumstances, I said unless there was radical change in the game it wouldn't happen and it was in response to Bedi saying it "wasn't outside the realm of current day players" - not amazing distant future players who will kick bags into their 40s.
Yeah, and nobody will ever break 4 minutes for the mile.
Yeah because what constitutes a mile and the rules for how to run consistently change and are challenged every year. Great input.

There are definitely records that aren't going to be broken, at least not without unexpected and massive changes. The NBA has a bunch, no one is going to break the single game points record, or the season average points, or rebounds all set by Wilt Chamberlain. The NBA has evolved, like the AFL has.

If the AFL pushes for less games, like it seems it might be with hopes for a 20 team league and a 20 game season, the opportunity for another thousand goal career gets slimmer and slimmer.

What!? We have played two games this year, we could easily still fall into the bottom four.

It's only Round 3.

Melbourne just coasting their way to 3-0.

I love showdown games, they bring classics at a high clip.

Melbourne remind me of 2014/15 us - just easing into the season, not putting sides away due to inaccuracy and maybe a hint of hubris. When the whips are cracking and they are in top gear - they’re going to hurt teams.

Just remember how they got him. Finished last as result of a punishment handed out due to systematic doping. Only to be rewarded with a first draft pick for finishing last. I’m still bewildered how that was even allowed to happen.
Absolutely.

You get the top pick as an indication that you have the worst, or at least, a very poor list

Not because you have 13 players suspended for cheating, ready to come back the next year

Dodgy as all hell...
