Saints traded their F2 for pick 45 from Dons to take Hugh Boxshall
So not a decent deal by any means.
Suns bid on GWS Academy player at pick 49 which Giants did not match.

Lions traded out a bunch of picks when Ty Gallop was bid on at pick 42 by Cats. Not eactly sure what they were but can see lions with a bunch of future picks.

One of their top club F1 with F2 going back would have been fair given the talent that was still on board at pick 35

A predicted top 10 pick who slid due to injury.

Got a touch of the Ryan Burton's perhaps (he only slid to pick 19 though).

Not the worst way to spend a selection in the 30's

Don't think he is as agile as Burton but strikes me more of a Dustin Fletcher type. His aerial work is clearly his strength but kicking needs some work. But a nice height.

I will trust the recruiting team with this selection.

Just for clarifications sake I was not comparing the players but more so making a comment regarding the recruiting technique of drafting previously touted high draft picks who slip down the rankings due to injury

didnt see much of his underage year and he was injured for 90% of his draft year, but in the glimpses i have seen he looks competitive in the air (interceptor)and on the ground and at 198cm is a handy height, weakness is potentially kicking and not seeing him compete against the best at the champs which adds a little uncertainty, i think some had him in the top 20 prior to the season, so he caught some peoples attention in his underage year, i trust Mark McKenzie with post pick 30 picks in the draft, it seems to be his specialty, he has a good record with late picks imo.

Looks like succession planning to me. Mraz and Mcabe are in a different age bracket than Barass, Frosty and Sic so if the talent is there...
My thoughts too, twin towers in the backline with loads of time to develop a close rapport with each other, and a massively talented group of mentors surrounding them. Add Ryan, MacDonald and Mitchel and Serong pretty handy junior back 6.

He is not DGB. His running and endurance for a first year kid of his height is great
He's kinda a reverse DGB if anything.

Noah has good aerobic capacity but poor kicking whereas DGB was poor aerobic capacity but good kicking.

We will wait to see if he has a bit better balance with regards to aggression / on field discipline compared to DGB.

I have a good feeling about Noah. Like the way he handles himself. There's something very interesting too about a player who hasn't had a chance to show what he's really made of in his draft year but has shown plenty prior. Welcome to the Hawks! 🤎💛

Am really hoping we see him, McCabe and Serong form a solid unit down back at Box Hill this season.
The three of them are well suited to the modern game and can learn about it safely- something our KPP haven't necessarily enjoyed previously.

Mraz Blanck Ryan
Mitchell Mccabe Mcdonald

Is a pretty strong and exciting VFL backline

Perhaps Gunston's logical replacement ... Serong, that is?

That's probably Dear.

I don't see how Serong sees gametime unless there are a string of injuries.

TBH I'm amazed a few fringe players like Maginess, Morrison, Serong, Mitchell and maybe even Ward didn't look at moving clubs due to lack of gametime. I suppose that speaks to the great culture we are building.
