Murphy comprehensively duped the umpire. Both with the free kick and then going off the ground.

And the conversation we should be having is the one about how ******* great it is we’ve got a player smart enough to do that, and maybe he can teach everyone else to do it too.

I'm going to have to watch it again, but I think the laying there and then the neck soreness came from hitting the ground. It was a free for the gut punch, even if the umpire mistakenly called high contact.

I don't know that any player, in thaf situation, would be aware / smart enough to quickly think "We're 2 points down, it's 50 out, I can't kick this, quick, fake an injury and hope the kick goes to a player who can." Maybe "I'm really hurt, don't be all courageous." But it wasn't faked.

IMO the only place for Sloane is half forward. His field kicking is poor and he's lost a yard of pace so you can't send him back. But he's good overhead, would attract a decent defender and is a pretty good kick for goal. If we insist on playing him that's the spot.

I'd love to see this and keep calling for it also. This will prolong his career like it has other club warriors (Goodwin comes to mind).

If we keep playing him exclusively his body will deteriorate further and he will be no use to us.

I would say Port Power's list will be way worst so they are in a bigger sh*t hole than when Hinkley took over in terms of list management. Hinkley had Boak and Gray who were 23 and 24 years and both will end up being top 5 best players ever at Port Power compared to Butters and Rozee and emergence of Wingard.

At the same time they’ll smash any high work rate player that gives us a chance to win

Watching the mini match and just showed that Dawson goal touched on the line.

The goal review said insufficient evidence that ball was touched either before or after it had crossed the line.

So if no evidence the ball was touched before the line - it’s a goal, isn’t it?

Goal umpire called touched and asked for a review. Insufficient evidence => umpire's call stands.

It was one of those that could have gone either way.
I’m not sure if the ruling is behind the line or the padding, as the padding is behind the line.
It was right inline with the back of the padding.

That padding thing sucks. Bad enough that it makes the goal narrower on the line, but it shouldn't make the line deeper.
