Is Jordan Dawson wasted in the midfield?

In all seriousness, when he's up and about he's an elite big bodied mid with elite disposal. We've been crying out for this guy.

Get some better coaches. Plonk him, Soligo and Rankine there as your starting mids and rotate Crouch, Pedlar and Taylor through. That's light years better in terms of quality and diverse skill set than we've had for a while.

We learnt the hard way with Andrew Embley how damaging a tall wingman can be and how much flexibility the role offers
Gaaargh!!

You said 'Andrew Embley'!!

I'd only just gotten over that nightmare!!

I was actually hoping Cooky could evolve into that kind of role. He's highly skilled and damaging enough on the scoreboard for the limited times he gets the ball. If only he could get more of the ball.

Just had an epiphany.

The reason for our four person midfield that we're wedded to. No room for anyone else. You'll sit on a half forward flank and like it, young mid.

Ricciuto, Goodwin, Edwards, Thompson.

When the Ten Commandments of our Club were written in 2005-06, that was the set up.
It's actually chiselled in stone I believe.

He's now the eighth lowest rated player in the entire AFL for his entries inside fifty. Crazy backwards development

Teams have been onto Dawson this year and he’s had way less space. So many of his inside 50s have been hack kicks, especially from stoppages, which leads to losing possession so that affects his kick rating I believe, his ball use with time and space has still been excellent.

For us to be a truly competitive team Dawson should be starting behind the ball IMO, which means we need to find an A grade on baller.

Except of course 3 of those guys started on half back flank or back pocket

We don't remember that bit. Have never once revisited that proven method with a young mid

Half back/back pocket for us now is reserved to reward stalwarts (Doughty, Smith)
