Hard to really gauge it. Half the best side is out and hasn’t been close to the park this year…..and half the ones that played tonight are coming off either having COVID or being in Iso.

The season is done - but it was always a bit of an uphill battle.

Will we ever get close to our best group on the park? - probably not - very little has gone right this year, but it’d be nice to see how that group goes…

People say that but then also say that Gaff, Hurn, Kennedy, Nelson, Petch etc are done. So are they B22 and proof we’re at our strongest, or are they trash that needs to go even if we get no picks back?

People say don’t live off past glories when it comes to Simmo winning us a flag but the fact that the players that were good for us five years ago are still playing is proof that we should be flying?

Anyone who didn’t think this was going to be a decidedly average season in November is naive, and anyone who didn’t think this was going to be a historically bad season in the build up to Round 1 needs to be told the truth about the tooth fairy and Santa Claus.

The team looked like they’d barely met today, and that’s probably to do with the fact that for the last three weeks they’ve barely been allowed in the same venue. Effort was shit so sure, get fired up about the effort, but melting over a team of supplementary picks is not worth anyone’s energy.

I usually don’t post (or disagree with your takes), but I think what I (and it seems other people) are pissed about is that the game plan that I think everyone has agreed isn’t going to win a premiership from the last few years is back. Whereas the last 2 weeks we have been poor in execution but playing something that resembles… fun?
I don’t have the answer - and I trust people getting paid $$ to have it - but our backline has no dare and no spark. Witherden and gaff and hurn and rotham statting it up before kicking long to Kennedy and darling to be outnumbered is poor. I suppose everyone is pissed that we thought this shit was out after two weeks of guys taking the game on with sh*T skills. Now we have good (player depending) skills we are back to this rubbish.
I dunno man, I was just frustrated that this is what was offered after all of the good Will the team built after the last few weeks. I don’t mind losing, but don’t get beaten by what you know and you can’t win by doing what you know will get beaten.

Positives

• The Australian Women's Cricket team. What a champion team. This should be our standard that we set.
• The WA cricket team batting and batting and serving it up to the Vics giving them no hope for victory
• Dixon looks like he deserves to be on our list
• Naish in his third or fourth week at the club looks a decent pick up
• We moved from level 5 and are now on level 1 on the hff
• we are holding picks 2, 30, 21 and 38

Negatives

• Game strategy - it still sucks. Outdated and redundant
• I’m worried about our defence. Posters are happy that Hurn and Guv got involved. That’s because they are zoning and not playing shut down football.
• I am worried about our growing group of shadow dancers. Rotham Foley and Witherden zone, jog to the player 5 metres away from them and jog to the next non physical incident
• Gaff in the guts. This is not a go at him - it’s like asking a Mazda 3 to be Mazda BT50
• Our best 22 is very good but our depth is worrying.
• Rotham and Nelson continue to shit themselves and make such simple errors putting teammates in bad situations.
• I don’t trust that fat bustards Pieman with picks 2, 20, 21 and 38
