Harry Lemmey and although both could be seen as ruck Harry Barnett and Will Elliott are two athletic 202cm players. Top might be too high but I really like Olivier Northam who looks like a blonder version of Sam Draper, likes the rough stuff and looks to be a certain cult hero to whatever club takes him.

I don't want a ruck we'd try to turn into a fwd, I want a fwd only. I want our own Max King, our own Ben King. Harry McKay.
Entering dangerous territory going this early for what you want.

Id pick Elijah Hewett at this stage. Big bodied inside mid who can drift forward. Wouldn't mind another 1st rounder before we pick the Davey twins as well. And hopefully this Munkara lad lasts til 40 although Cal Twomey thinks unlikely at this stage.

We really need to get creative this off season and maybe take a few risks.

This is also a great opportunity to really hone in on our best 22 and what it will look like in 2023 and beyond.

Id do this

Draft Lemmey/Hewett/Broadbent/
Tsatsas with our first round depending on who is available.

Draft Alwyn Davey Jr with points (may need some pick swaps)

Trade 2023 picks to pick up Munkara if we believe he won’t last to 41 and are genuinely keen

Woo Brayshaw with a FA offer

Which could give us a 2023 best 22 of

Kelly Reid Ridley
Hind Laverde McGrath
Brayshaw Merrett Durham
Perkins Jones Martin
Tex/AMT Wright Stringer
Draper Parish Caldwell

Redman Munkara Hobbs Broadbent/Hewett(?)
Sub: Davey/Shiel/Snelling/Langford

I’m kinda leaning to Broadbent if he is available and as good as the early reports are given Melbourne’s success with two rucks, though only if he has good forward craft. Lemmey will probably be off the board at our pick. We should look at a half back too.

How we fit Cox into this team will be intriguing. I still think Shiel is surplus particularly if we draft another mid so im not sure what to do about him.

TASMANIAN small forward Jye Menzie is attracting interest from AFL clubs ahead of the mid-season rookie draft, following a blistering start to life at South Adelaide.

The 19-year-old has kicked 10 goals in the first two rounds to lead the SANFL, ahead of former Crow Matthew Wright, ex-Cat Daniel Menzel and Port Adelaide recruit Jeremy Finlayson.

Menzie followed up a brilliant debut for the Panthers in round one, where he kicked 4.3 against Central District, slotting 6.1 against Port Adelaide last weekend.

AFL.com.au understands that four clubs have enquired about Menzie as they start to get a lay of the land ahead of the mid-season rookie draft on June 1.

Dodoro likes small flankers with the potential to play midfield... POTENTIAL being the main point here
Dodoro likes publicity and sucking up to keep his job
unproven after 20 years
wake up internet fools the guy is no good, hopeless, unproven, an industryinsider joke, Kevin sheedy fanboy
end of rant:)

Am completely beside you in this regards. Don't worry he will leave his post by years end to save face than be pushed out like he should have 5 years ago

Hopefully there's a KPF available at our first pick and we can grab the Davy twins after that.

We probably need to draft a very good quality midfielder with a genuine point of difference the year after.

Or maybe we target the gun midfielder this year and hope to get a KPF via trade or free agency after that.

I don't want a single 'mature' aged player in the draft, rookie draft, pre season supplemental period or the likes.

Give me kids we can try to develop. None of this wishy washy bullshit we've taken. Don't be deceived by Nic Martin, the rest have been rubbish for some time before that. Including Waterman.

Yeah, part of me thinks that the reason a lot of these guys have come in and looked 'good' is because they don't have a great deal of competition.

Snelling, Durham, Martin, they have come in and had considerable impact but would they have been able to have that impact if someone mid-table had drafted them?

It's great that we're able to find players like this but I think it masks serious problems with either recruiting or player development.

Fun fact; we've taken a mature aged player every year since 2007 (this includes downgrading senior listed players to the rookie list that we should have just moved on).

A previous incarnation ago.

His real problem is flashy midfielders as opposed to the no frills inside strength and run that pretty much every other team builds midfields on.

He made an impression as a very mobile, nice moving big but very thin tall.

I can always see the appeal with a guy like that but he was a long way away in 2019 or 2020 or whenever it was.

I'm interested to see what it looks like if he's getting it together. Might have a look at some footage tonight.

You would think so with so many clubs now enquiring. Averaging 2 marks over his two games so far so not sure what he offers over Bryan at the moment.
