If the rule is strictly no dissent, then nothing wrong with asking what the decision was for. Or expressing frustration. As long as you don't express a different opinion it's not dissent.
Should be able to train players how to question, query, berate themselves but not dissent.
But.. umps need to own up and be accountable when they make a clear mistake.
Exactly!

less people will go to games and those that do go will make up for the reduced onfield umpire abuse tenfold as they make their way off of it.

You think we hate BS now……you think he’s not gunna be involved in the PP decision? If we are in need of a PP, portion of blame sits pretty squarely on his shoulders, he won’t cop that.
Just like he graciously chose the “walk away from North when he wasn't the right man anymore” move, provided he got paid for the following year.
Actually can’t stand the clown

Of all the people at HQ, he'd be about the only one who would give us a fair hearing over a PP.

Scott has done more to increase vitriol towards umps than anything else. Does he think fans arent going to react to umps calling 50 for having players hold their arms out?

I get there's a shortage of umps. But he never explained the link between AFL players arguing with umps and these shortages.

I get the paying 50 for obvious abuse.

But adult relationships aren't built on this 'hold out your arms and its 50' stuff.

I remember a story where Carey was giving it to an ump. The ump turns around and tells him to shut the **** up and get a kick. Love it.

They’ve created a solution to a problem that never existed.

Standard.
