My info is that we are targeting Roberts and Freo will then take Wakfer.
If we didn’t take Roberts I’d be done with the club full stop.

She’s a gun.

Hence why I said WCE need to get their shit together.

She’s clean in the ground, amazing over head, a piercing kick

I’ve no doubt she’ll change the fortune of a team, she is that good.
Not sure how I feel about this.

SA destroyed the WA u18s. Then that U18 team almost bests the WA all-stars.

Can we conclude SA u18s would beat a WA senior team at the moment?

Roberts got 30 possessions against WA, but only 16 against SA (team leading).

On the plus side, SA then beat Vic country by even more. So maybe SA is really strong this year.

On the minus side, Vic metro toweled up Vic country, so maybe it's just that Vic country and WA are really week.

On the other plus side, Bartlett kicked 4 against the U18s, so looks good for a call up.

On the other negative side, that's 4 against a juniors side coming off a thrashing.

So, Roberts, then Bartlett?

My info is this - Bartlett does not want a call up. Personally I still think she has a bit to offer.

Results aside it’s the way Ella moves. I was up close and personal this weekend and this kid has what it takes.

Final 18 a game is this Friday is Vic Metro v WA. Looking forward to watching that even though it’ll probably be another hard slog for WA

Yes WA is week this year. Ella is cheat code - then the talent left whilst good, isn’t as good as last season

All Stars have also had just the one training session before playing.

SA female football is in marvellous shape.

Port will play finals before WCE

Biggie I have watched Ella closely and one of her distinguishing playing traits, that is not often mentioned ( and I happen to rate these attributes very highly, when assessing talent ) is her vision and awareness of both who is ..... and ..... what is going on around her.

Case In Point: Several times I have seen her run flat tilt up the ground to attack and meet an oncoming ground ball, rather than try to turn back towards goals herself, she has seen an advancing team mate running by herself at pace toward goals 5 - 10 meters away from her and she accurately bangs a hand pass out to her attacking team mate.

This does four things all of which are pure feel for the game:

1. Puts all the defenders hot on her heals out of play as they have already committed and cant double back in time.
2. Gives her attacking team mate, time and space, to execute a quality scoring attack.
3. Brings her team mates into play action with feed offs.
4. Allows her to then reposition herself for her next play involvement and then quickly head there.

These are the footy smarts that are innate are very hard to teach.
It's these such traits that separates the stars from the plodders.

Yes she will have a lot of pressure on her to perform, but she has already shown a capacity to handle pressure before I mean - Being Peels Key Forward in Finals as a 16 year old and delivering crunch goals in Peels first Premiership, you just had to give her a nod and say WOW the kids got poise.

She’s clean in the ground :whitecheck: , amazing over head :whitecheck: , a piercing kick :whitecheck:

And thats a very rare and unique skill set ............ add footy smarts to that and you have a special player.

Those are Ellie McKenzie type of playing traits.

A :star: in the making is Ella Roberts.

your info is wrong. hahaha.
I’m actually not surprised! Source has been wrong twice now so I think I’ll let any info given to me in the future disappear 🫠

Kate definitely has what it takes to have another crack at the next level, I’m stoked she’d like to go around again.

Update on Bowen departure. Cats in poll position with a tier 2 offer ... so we'd have to match it to keep her.
Also offers from all the expansion clubs.

If she went to Geelong, they’d have to trade us something for her, right?

Miguel thats the key question I am unclear on, because if we got no compensation or player exchange or trade capital for the list raid - then we are well and truely screwed for the foreseeable future.

If we lost Collier, Bowen, N Kelly and the two SA girls to port for nix, then we are actually in an even worse position than any other Club ….. even the new start up Clubs.

Surely there is some sort of compensation formula.

Add in Bullas to that list, she’s a former Essendon VFLW player and they’d surely be in her ear to go back.

When we raided Freo there was some shifting of the WA picks to recognize the fact that we’d picked their eyes out (on paper, anyway). Hopefully there’ll be a similar exercise done this time, because we seem to be copping it a lot worse than Freo are even though you’d assume they’d have the more desirable players.

Even if there was market value compo for losing Collier, Ward, Gauci and Bullas to expansion teams, none of them are worth high picks anyway. If they do leave, they're going to be replaced by WAFLW players that Fremantle don't have the list space for, regardless of whether the AFL gets involved.

Completely different for, say, Niamh Kelly who of course would have to be traded in a fair deal if she goes to an existing team like Adelaide or North. And the result of that trade may lead to bringing in somebody like Jamie Stanton (reported today: "understood to have been sounded out by Fremantle and West Coast in recent weeks in relation to a move west"; "also had interest from New South Wales").

Ella Roberts again BOG for WA today. Swung the game into WA favour when moved into the middle

21 touches and two goals she ended up with

Let’s hope we don’t stuff it up and take another under sized mid.. 😂🤦‍♀️
I know we’ve struggled and stuffed shit up but there’s no way we missing this complete package

Roberts is keen to avoid West Coast at all costs and has enquired about nominating interstate like Rowbottom did
Got a source?

Well that would be quite a backflip on what she said this time last year:

Btw Rowbottom was 18 and had finished school six months earlier when she decided to move interstate. Roberts is 17 and still has six months of school to complete. Feels like a difference worth highlighting.

That said, it wouldn't shock me at all if a massive hypocrite like Craig Starcevich is plotting to steal another WA talent, just as Brisbane have done many times before.
