Minor ankle sprain, unlikely to play this week after already missing a week of training

The club will take a cautious approach with young key forward Harrison Jones after he injured his ankle in Essendon VFL’s round four clash with Port Melbourne.

The 21-year-old will unlikely feature at VFL level this week, with Murphy a no-risk approach would be taken with Jones’ rehabilitation.

“'Jonesy’ had a minor ankle sprain to the same side that he’s had the issue with against Port Melbourne,” Murphy said.

“He was a test for last week (VFL Anzac Day game) but he couldn’t quite get up and he’s missed a full week of training (because of it).

“The plan is to now monitor him across this week and he’s probably unlikely to play this week as well.

“We want to take a no-risk approach with young ‘Jonesy’ and make sure we set him up for the back half of this year.”

Building up chronic load, hopefully ready to play before the bye.
Talented youngster Harrison Jones is another forward the Bombers could regain before the bye, but Murphy said a cautious approach would be taken with the 21-year-old.

“'Jonesy' had that incident against Port Melbourne where he tweaked that ankle again. It took a little while to settle down, longer than we would have liked, so we’ve put him in a block where we feel we need to get some more chronic load into his body,” he said.

“He’s missed so much (footy), so we want to be cautious with him and make sure we’re getting good loads into him so that we’re having a good result once he gets back playing.

“Over the next two weeks, we’re going to get that chronic load up and get the volume in through training and match simulation on weekends, and then hopefully we’ll see him in a few weeks.”

Yep. It’s so we can tick off when we do our chores but I often use it as a sort of agree/superlike/this is correct button
