List a thing on marketplace
"Hi is this available"
"Yes"
"Where are you located?"
"That information is at the top of the listing. I am in X"
"Oh that's too far"

fu** off campaigner.
Is there something on the buyer side of the ad which scrubs the part of the listing where I clearly state my suburb? **** I hate Facebook

it’s kinda necessary to ask location to be honest. I’ve seen the location listed and asked the questions I need to know only to find out the item isn’t at the location it says the person is located at. Sometimes due to the fact they’ve listed it for someone who doesn’t have Facebook or whatever reason. Tho I wouldnt bother if it appeared to be too far away.

In general people are idiots.

I’ve often given up on trying to buy things second hand and just forked out on new stuff cause trying to sort through the idiots on fb marketplace is too time consuming.

Just scroll through tvs for instance. “Sony 55 inch tv” (with no other details)

Thanks, you’ve just described every 55inch tv Sony has made for the past 15 years you ****ing moron and it tells me nothing.

That’s like 95% of the listings for tvs.

I'd never buy anything technology related off there. Second hand quality timber furniture is kind of the one thing that you can occasionally nab a bargain on. Nothing can go wrong with it

Yeah I’ve skipped out on tvs as it was too hard.

Have bought a fair bit of furniture (fridge etc) and the like (had to move interstate and didn’t bother moving anything over so re-furnished a place from scratch.

I'm surprised at some of the quality of tables, cabinets & work benches etc you see at places like Savers for peanuts, all some of this stuff needs is a clean, sanding & polishing etc.

It just surprises me that people on a budget buy Kmart furniture when they could find solid well made stuff that would've been worth hundreds in it's day for pocket change.

Trend.

Kmart might be cheap but it's closer to whatever the fashion is than nana's old chesterfield that will probably last a hundred years.

I'm not talking granny furniture though, if some of these tables I've seen were polished up & in Country Life magazine they'd be jizzed over.

My mistake was trying to give away an old Samsung TV that works rather than hard rubbish. I wish I'd just gone down the hard rubbish route rather than deal with 500 morons who can't read.

Re the location, the actual 'location' on the listing is always vague but it is clear as day if the seller puts it in the description.

What's wrong with a bean bag.... And a table made of pizza boxes?

Years ago I used to have my tv sitting on a packing box. It was only a 'portable' tv but it was back when they had a tube rather than a flat screen, so it had some weight to it. One night when I was watching the packing box couldn't take the weight any more and the tv slowly sunk into the box until the power cord stopped it from disappearing altogether.

Chose to again miss the footy yesterday because of Hinkleyball.

Went to mates place instead. Mate tests positive for covid this morning. Spent 8 hours within 5 meters of him.

Have to isolate until the rules change Saturday morning.

I blame Hinkley.

It’s the time you have to spend sorting through, asking questions cause no one writes any relevant info other than the briefest description of what it is. At the moment I’m looking at couches and it’s horrible. They’ll just list couch, want gone.

Well thanks asshat. What material is that? Are the cushion covers removable/ washable or not? Real leather or faux leather? Where did you buy it from? How long have you had it / are you the first owner? Any marks tears or wear? Measurements? Does it disassemble at all or separate into two pieces? And in Sydney the ever important does it need to be carried down stairs ?

Trying to extract this information is like trying to negotiate with a toddler who speaks Chinese.
