Well that would be quite a backflip on what she said this time last year:

Btw Rowbottom was 18 and had finished school six months earlier when she decided to move interstate. Roberts is 17 and still has six months of school to complete. Feels like a difference worth highlighting.

That said, it wouldn't shock me at all if a massive hypocrite like Craig Starcevich is plotting to steal another WA talent, just as Brisbane have done many times before.
Those statements were made when West Coast looked like they were improving under Pratt and hadn’t “done the pride thing to death”

The lure of being the no. 1 pick in the country also appears to be a lot stronger than what it actually means.

Ok I'll be sure to pass that information on to whichever club has the no.1 pick... whether it be Essendon, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, Sydney, or maybe even Carlton.

So no source? Just a hunch?

I’m not going to put my source on a forum. It’s by no means certain to happen, but she is entertaining the thought.
Let me be pretty straight with you

My patience is super thin at the moment, given how my club has been performing on and off the field.

If you come onto our board and drop a fairly hefty bombshell about a once in a generation talent choosing to “avoid West Coast at all costs”, do me a favour and say you have a source in your OP.

Not asking for a name, state if it’s a friend of a friend, the janitor at Peel, a coach or players around her …. or I’ll immediately assume you are shit stirring and putting the boot in.

Im digging into this myself.

I’m a reasonably regular poster on your board as even though I am clearly Freo first, I very much support the WC AFLW team and attend all matches where possible.

It is in Freo’s beat interest that Ella does nominate for the WA draft. There is absolutely no doubt WC would take with her first pick and then try to make her happy in her first year at the club.

If she doesn’t go in the WA draft, that would mean WC would take someone else that could have gone to Freo so it’s a lose lose situation for both clubs.

All I will say about my source is that is accurate but at no stage have I said it’s a done deal, it was just an enquiry.

Cheers bud. Appreciate the the response. I am well aware of your postings and take onboard what you say. Just a tad fragile over here at the moment tbh so this would send me ove the edge I feel

Kick me off if you like because it’s your board. That’s fair enough.

My take after Roberts, picks 2 or 3 in the WA will net you the same type of players. Therefore, the Dockers first round won’t change much. Maybe the second round it might.

It’s probably it’s in the Fremantle’s interest to have a weaken West Coast like West Coast having a weak Docker men’s team.

Roberts is a generational type which gives hope to West Coast. If she goes interstate, it’s massive kick to the guts.

After some digging about today , I am very comfortable now with her position to play at WCE and not avoid us at all costs.

Breathe easy my blue and gold brethren, it’s looking a-ok

I've always thought having a strong Fremantle men's team was good for the Eagles. No free hits for interstate clubs flying in to play Freo instead of West Coast, therefore Freo taking 4 points off our competitors is a good thing.

Can you keep digging and find a few talls?

Lauren Wakfer 180 cm South Fremantle - would be a wonderful addition to that request from CC.

Sadly I suspect her name will be the first called out by Fremantle.

Our only hope is if we get a priority pick so that we were able to have two picks before Fremantle.

Roberts & Wakfer would be a wonderful start to a build ......... I wont call it a rebuild as we are really still starting from scratch.

Wakfer will 100% go to Freo. Standout 2nd best WA talent for mine

Not much in the way of talls after that, next draft a player called Georgie Cleaver (East Freo Tall/Ruck) should be our 1st pick (and 1st in WA)

A priority pick is one way to get 2 picks before Freo, but the Eagles list managers would be well served to be looking at pick swaps and other trades that do the same if they want the pick of this years draft options.

Sounds good in theory, however if we trade out the Number 1 pick ( or split it ), whats to stop Fremantle trading players and or picks, to acquire that # 1 pick and then pick up Roberts themselves ????

While Wakfer would be nice .... let's be honest here ........ Ella Roberts is the gold nugget that both WA teams want.

If its' a totally open un-compromised, no restrictions, draft I think Roberts would be a good chance to be the first selected.

Ensuring that Roberts is our first pick should be out recruiters number 1 objective.

Then again, our recruiters have shown in the past to not be the most astute in working the draft and special picks that we have been granted.

Surely we gain access to a priority pick, right? The first two picks in the draft for WA would be a big boost for the team.
This would be an excellent outcome.

Big Girl Lakay and Wakfer set up us with decent ruck/forward options. Plus Ella

Who is the List Manager for our AFLW Team?

Is this just another example of Nesbitt not doing his job with the non-commercial aspects?

We should be a certainty of getting a priority pick and it needs to be 2 picks before Freo get a chance.

Roberts and Wakfer are a good start to strengthening our team.

While we are at it - who is the GM Football for the Women's side?
I note we do not see the need in the men's competition for traditional structures and look how screwed up up off-field team is with the men.

My mail is we will be going for mids after Roberts. The club seems to think forwards aren’t the full story and we need more mid quality.

Truth of the matter is that we need improvement in and on, every line, so I wouldn't be unhappy if we just pick the BPA and work towards specific positional needs, once we get the general standard of our list improved.

That said, if I may ask ..... who do " they " think will be kicking our goals to put us in a winning , or actually I will settle for a competitive, position ???????

Our fitness levels ( or lack thereof ) is just as big an issue IMO as the quality on our list.

3 drafts now we haven't prioritised our forward line and we've finished down the bottom, cannot score to save our lives as the lowest ranked team.

At SOME point.. the club needs to actually draft some talented talls. Ones who know hoe to play footy, mark the ball and hit the scoreboard.

Not pin our hopes on a couple Irishwoman, surrounded by C level ageing talent.

Steph Cain leaving Freo is a huge loss. No one saw that coming. A very good footballer
