I notice Xavier Duursma has been dropped again......anyone know what his contract status is out of curiosity? (no I'm not wanting Crows to go after him!)
Hasn't been the same since he got hurt against Richmond last year.

Richmond player went in hard, cleaned him up late in the game. At the time a suspected ACL. I thought at the time the hit was "punishment" for being chirpy. Remember how he went after Tom Lynch with the verbal in the 2020 Prelim.

I wonder if he's still physically hurt from that....or his confidence copped a knock.

Before that knock he was a dam good player, even if he did let his opponents know it. Has struggled since.

Ken has ruined him too.

Was it before that? The slide happening after he mouthed off and then cost his team a grand final berth dropping that sitter in the prelim.

A bit like Clinton Young slipping over in the 2012 grand final allowing Kieran Jack to goal. Never played another game for Hawthorn. Off to Collingwood a week later.

Broken by a split second moment.

Took Damien Martyn almost a decade to come back from him lobbing a catch to cover with a handful of runs needed vs South Africa.

for those that haven't seen the dropped mark, here it is again

He's really dropped off the face of the earth after an outstanding start to his career. Will end up being quietly traded for a late second round pick.
Could it be tied in with the fact that the team isn't as successful now?

It's always easier to play in a winning team.

That was a real shame

I forget the golfer's name but he missed a short putt on the 72nd hole that would have won a major. Then lost in the playoff.

Years later he said that he sometimes goes a whole minute without thinking about it

Even if it meant getting his better younger brother Zane Duursma? 😉
Depends. There's a balancing act.

1) is the brother Z. Duursma as big a w***er as arrowboy?

2) if answer is 'no' to 1), then ok, I could suffer X. Duursma

3) if 'yes' to 1), then he'd want to be a very special player before I'd want him at the crows.

4) is there a Y. Duursma? then we could go for the hat trick ...X, Y, Z Duursma.

Possibly both incidents.

I do believe he copped an extra hard bump in the game last year due to his mouthing off against Lynch in that Prelim, and dropping a sitter to seal the game.

Richmond broke him.

A bit like us lol....

Well...

There is a sister, Yasmin, and she plays footy as well.

And yes, the age order is Xavier, Yasmin, Zane. :)

Heard two Port supporters talking at work this week saying we only need to make the 8 and anything can happen. Congrats Port you've officially reached the Neil Craig/Stephen Trigg era.

and we know how well Port perform in finals

AFL fixturing at its finest again.

Round 18 has both Carlton vs Geelong and Fremantle vs Sydney on at the same time. Saturday night.

This is to accommodate a team outside the finals (Western Bulldogs) on Friday night.

Surely Bulldogs vs St Kilda can be a Sunday or Saturday day match to have one of the Saturday games in prime time

There is and she's a very good player too Yasmin Duursma.

Willem Duursma will likely be another brother headed for AFL, already in the Victorian U15's squad and showing potential apparently.

Just in that round 16-19 block Bulldogs in 9th get a Thursday night, 2 x Friday night and a Saturday night, all national free to air.

We could finish top 4 and we wouldn't get that across an entire season.

But him being younger ruins the whole alphabetisation scheme! I hate the Duursma parents for this.

3 games at Marvel that weekend, so one of them has to be Friday (or Thursday), of course they could swap Fremantle vs Sydney (assuming that's the Fox game, no Victorian team there) with North Melbourne vs Richmond (twilight).
