Perfect example of why I don't watch any games other than ours any more. 3 missed frees in 5 seconds culminating in one of our players being KOd, and then the bloke who raised his elbow (big difference between that and tucking it in to brace) doesn't even get a ****ing fine for it.

This such a stupid ******* comment. The decision has zero affect on us. It only my affects The Crows who GC play next.
It does effect us cos opposition players know they can do what they want and get away with it.

You are 100% right it doesn’t impact our season.

But in saying that it’s frustrating that we keep seeing our players suspended for incidents when incidents like the McKay one are ignored by AFL House.

How can you be so sensible in so many threads and then sprout that nonsense.
How many times have our players been concussed and not suspended. That weak prick thru a ****en elbow cos he knew he could.

What's worse is he walked off the ground.

Do you honestly believe that?

It was intentional for sure, maybe not to get him in the head but to certainly make contact, and yep, the fact our players didn’t do anything just shows how soft they have become.

But, there wouldn’t be a single player out there that thinks just cause they are playing us they can get away with anything. It’s tin foil hat thinking.

In contrast. The AFL under Gil has always been governed by public opinion unfortunately.

We're a small market club that's on field performance means we're irrelevant for the time being. Move on and stick fat. We'll have our time again.

So you are allowed to raise an elbow and knock out your opponent now? Raised elbow intent, high impact...How is that not 2-3 week suspension. Laughable.

Can someone put up the clip of what Ben got suspended for vs Ainsworth getting off

Even if the elbow was rated as "careless" striking, the impact was high (unarguable due to the concussion injury) and contact was high. The 2022 AFL Tribunal guidelines are pretty clear that the penalty is for a suspension. Heck, even of they downgraded the impact to medium it's one week. BMac might argue however, that the impact was severe as he will be missing at least one match...

At the beginning of this season the AFL came out saying that with striking charges, any high contact with the potential to cause injury will “usually” be classified as either medium, high or severe impact - not low impact.

The Commission approved the following recommendations relating to the Match Review and Tribunal process to ensure the systems, guidelines and interpretations continue to evolve with the trends of the game.

The amendments are as follows:

1. Head high contact

Previously under the AFL & AFLW Regulations, “strong consideration” was required to be given to the potential to cause injury in certain circumstances. Regulations have therefore been amended as follows:

The potential to cause injury must be factored into the determination of Impact; and

Notwithstanding any other provision of the AFL / AFLW Regulations, any Careless or Intentional Forceful Front-On Conduct or Rough Conduct (High Bumps) where High Contact has been made and that has the potential to cause injury will usually be classified as either Medium, High or Severe Impact (i.e. not Low Impact) even though the extent of the actual physical impact may be low (e.g. the victim player has suffered no apparent injury). This reflects the approach that currently applies to the Impact determination for strikes.

The result of this change will be that, where there is Careless Conduct that is High Contact and has the potential to cause injury, a Medium Impact classification will usually apply, and a one match suspension will be the minimum sanction applied.
