Autopsy GWS beat North - game over at half time

Found it interesting that at one point in the fourth I saw Taylor forward AND Scott on the wing. Both playing and performing more comfortably in their natural positions. Absolutely ridiculous how bad selection has been with players and positions.

Side note. The recruiters ****ed up by not getting back up for Larkey forward and McKay down back. Not getting McDonald from Melbourne or something similar was ridiculous. Probably why they fell on their sword.

It took Curtis getting pummeled by defenders to show that we can only score inside 50 from set shots when we have more than one legitimate leading target inside 50.

‘The game moves pretty fast for me’….
My favourite is the bit where he reveals our contest, clearance, and pressure has been good all year, then instead of talking about why we can't score just rambles platitudes about 'balance' (balance is a thing that needs improving but it was The Bounce tier analysis). Balance is just one symptom of the lack of structure.

We’re good around the footy when the ball is inside the contest.

Once it’s out and we’re in possession we can’t move it. When the opposition is in possession, we can’t stop it.

I, you, the bloke that scrounges used cigarettes in the corner of Vic and Lennox St can see it, so why can’t David?

Game probably moves a little quick….

60 hit outs to 13 yet clearances are only 34-32 - suggests an issue
113-102 contested possessions but 176-308 uncontested possessions - suggests selection and structural issues
58-56 turnovers - suggests not the main issue at the moment
69-149 marks - suggests a lack of pressure and accountability

Noble took over a mess but how we tackle that only becomes more critical. I think there is effort for the most part but either Noble takes measure to fix the above which is absolutely on the coach or we need someone who will. It is fixable to make us more competitive and aid development rather than hinder it which is obvious what we are doing atm.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I saw signs of life today.

Midfielders got sucked into the contest too much and we got severely outworked on the outside, but at least there was a recognisable defensive plan and improvement from the past month. Ball movement was better in the second half.

Did a stand up job on Kelly apparently...who had 27 touches. Turner had 8. From a whole game in the midfield. Lmfao.

His first touch was a peach.

A no look kick over his shoulder straight into the arms of a loose GWS defender.

If today was signs of life then the game against Melbourne was our grand final.

This is beyond dumb. Basically you are saying that for a rebuilding side there is no threshold of acceptability and that any coach would have us on one win with a percentage of 50? And that everyone is imagining the abysmal structure, tactics and team selection and this has nothing to do with anything. And should just be ignored because… rebuilding.

Why do I even bother reading some of this stupidity. I would’ve already finished my shit if I wasn’t.
Yes, we are a rebuilding side. It means we're not competitive. It doesn't matter what structures we put in place, we can't play to them better than the opposition. I can't think of anything more stupid than raging at the coaching staff.

I find the bolded one interesting (well I find them all interesting), the differential in turnovers hasn't been huge in the last month or so, but we are getting punished more often than not because most of our turnovers occur when we try and switch the ball into the corridor, the players don't have the skills to carry out the game plan and the opponents are scoring too many easy goals.

There were 3 goals in it after quarter time because GWS put the cue in the rack and were pissing around in second gear.

I'm sick of this assessment of games where we get belted early and are down by 5-6 goals, and then we only lose by 8-10 and the assessment is 'thought we battled well after quarter time'

duck off with that shit

Yes, folly to think GWS was going full tilt once that lead had been established.

Again gets back to structures. We're disorganised.

The zoning style we are playing where we allow the loose option from the forward 50 is so bad. Why would you let one of the most skilled teams in the competition a loose option to spread from the contest?

Today's game was partly due to efforts of some players but Noble is owning the blame too. It is actually stupid to allow so much space for opposition to exploit.

They were toying with us and making us look like second, third, fourth, bloody sixth rate! Criminal.

Jed Anderson with 5 centre clearances (7 total) from only 10 centre bounce attendances. Glad we gave both Greenwood and Turner more midfield time.

Noble must be Stevie wonder because I don’t know what the duck he is seeing in Turner
I think he loves his battlers and tryers.

Have you noticed the players that have generally been singled out are more your flair players.

The bloke is clueless when it comes to coaching. Even his message is incoherent.

We are going to be in a worse position to rebuild from the mess he will leave behind.

I thought it was amazing and we’ve come a long way since this time last year. If you look at the outs - McKay, Polec, TT, CCJ I’m amazed we got within 20 goals of these recent grand finalists.
A cool head is what we need. It’s fully getting better. w00t.
