I keep upgrading my turntables and amps. It’s an expensive habit.
Yeah it's insane isn't it. I got some good use out of the last one but they've got them now with USB functionality where you can record whatever is playing onto USB to save it onto your PC which is a pretty cool feature and one I'll definitely use.

I've got this little alcove area that I'm turning into a bit of a music space, picked up Pink Floyd, Beatles, Stones and Doors framed posters that I want to hang up there and then a glass cabinet or shelf for the player and records. Gotta get around to fixing it up tomorrow, will take a few pictures if I manage it.

Gotta say there's a few fairly good record shops up near us but the bad thing is I find myself sniffing around there too often. I'm also stunned at how expensive it all is given the medium is about 40+ years 'out of date'.

This boomer is in for a shock when he learns what Spotify is lol
Spotify is for halfwits that would rather pay a subscription than get it for free. I guess us sigma types are built different 😤

One mention of sigma and the threatened beta who claims to be sigma pipes up with his prepubescent chest out.

Nah it’s not out of date, plenty of things are still getting first release vinyl pressings, especially techno/house. Everyone thought it was dying about 15 years ago but now it’s found a solid place with w***ers.

Have you got any amp recommendations that I don't have to make payments on like it's a ******* mortgage?

No. I ended up buying a 1980s Sherwood recently that was meant to be a good one back in the day. I’m starting to look at something new and better though. It’s good but not great. I upgraded the turntable to a new one and it’s super basic but really good. It’s like a boring hobby for w***ers really as George said. I have no idea what I’m doing with it.

My amp just gave up the ghost so I'm in the market. I think second-hand is going to be the way to go after a quick look last week. Anything decent and new seems to be in the $2k+ range

I’ve bought a couple of second hand ones and they are either in need of servicing or work or overrated. It’s like alchemy getting all the pieces right.

Most of my stuff is in storage as we are hopefully in the process of building soon

Grabbed a technics middle sized system not long ago second hand for like $350 only the half size speakers but fmd its good enough and good quality floor speakers are not cheap now.
Has a turntable duel cassette amp etc etc
Havent had a chance to give It a real going over yet.
Also run a bass rig
Have an ampeg SVT3 pro head and a 6x10 ampeg cabnet plus a hartke 4x10 cab, couple of basses ( warwick and ibanez)

Cannot wait to finally get a room sorted when we build
Its been a long time coming
Big screen and everything hooked up
All the stuff set up and displayed

The only good thing about losing was that I sulked My way out of Ubud. Back at the beach now. Ubud is like the Dandenongs. 2 days is my limit of mossy shit and drizzle.

Sitting around a pool drinking for hours makes footy seem trivial again.

Get into model trains.

That's expensive

I work with a guy who buys basic ones and customises them to make them look realistic, often based on photographs of real ones.
He ages them, changes the details.
He sells them for top dollar internationally on Ebay and he can't believe what some of the collectors will pay him. ( has done a few commissioned pieces ).
It easily paid for the 3D printer that has allowed him to do even more of it.

Picked myself up a new record player today, got a bunch of stuff from the 60's and 70's that I haven't listened to in ages. Feigning for that sweet sweet vinyl crackle.
Update: It is ****ing fantastic but I didn't get around to properly setting it up, I just plonked it on the table and got stuck into it.

Working from home today which means do whatever you want sprinkled in with some work so I am hoping to get around to setting it up properly on the shelf with the records and framed posters up on the wall. Will take a few snaps in all its beauty.

Having a shower, toilet and kitchen in the living room is a bold reno.

The thread is so funny, some of the comments like “Perspex shitting tube” and his retractions are gold.

If you need a laugh after last week have a look at this Twitter feed.

Imagine the luxury of taking a dump in your shitting cube next to an open fire, and all you have to do is peek over the modesty panel to see when your toast is ready.
