Just pure coincidence that all the “banter” is about Josh’s wife wearing the pants and him being whipped.

Barely a single other joke about him preferring the colors or being childish for wanting to go to his boyhood club etc etc.

This one particular is a cracking gag.

“He could have easily told her to shut up so that he could feel masculine enough to make the decision on his own and not because she asked/told him.”

Why stop there, could have even given her a slap and told her to get back in the kitchen while he made the decision? After all, it’s all just bantz with the ladz anyway right? No harm done.

Anyway, Battle is now a hawks player, surely we can just graciously wish him well and move onto our own club yeh.

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so ****ing what."

I stand to be corrected but I don’t believe that I’ve said I was offended by any of it.

Exactly, it's not being offended. It's not like our feelings were hurt.

Just pointing out that other people are jumping at shadows, talking each other into a shared reality that completely lacks any evidence to support it.

We're not telling these people they've hurt our feeling, we're telling them they look like idiots.

Its true, i look like Damian Barrett.

( Its not really true or i'd need to stick my head in a vat of acid ).

It's a coping mechanism. We can all still love the traitor as long as it's his ball and chain leading him by his balls and not disloyalty to the club.

In Fiji the consequence of offensive behaviour is a swift poke in the nose. So we all learn to be carefully respectful. Even unexpected eye contact can propel you into the old pugilistic predicament…should I duck or dish.

It’s wild coming into the Western world and seeing people speak so directly to each other, with the odd I’m offended response, followed by a further exchange and then a parting of ways. It’s all so civilised, and it allows parties to quickly navigate issues that islanders would take weeks and months to address.

I like the exchange in here. We don’t all have to see the world the same way. And I think we can all still get along.

Just remember though if you’re working with a fob Islander and giving him direct feedback about his work, don’t confuse his quiet reticence with meekness. That mofo plotting the right moment to strike back.

Being a good husband and Father is incredibly important, but it's not the only measure of a man.

I reckon Josh would have every opportunity to be a great Dad and partner if he'd stayed last the saints.

Mitchell is calculated in what he's doing.

Takes a meeting with a player and the partner with his wife there. Talks up growing as a husband etc. Mrs Mitchell gets her hooks into his partner. Josh leaves there and says those are my priorities honey bunny. Brownie points rain down from heaven. Josh agrees to join the club that no amount of penicillin could drain the pus from, then it's "hey everybody I'm super family guy" at every opportunity.

Screw the club that clearly wanted to keep him and had a substantial offer in front of him. OUR club. Screw his mates.

So josh can enjoy running round with those around him telling him he's passed the 2024 man test. Me? I'll be saying Whippy McWhipped is whipped.

If a woman forged ahead in her career without the need to make it all about her husband and kids she'd be lauded as a strong independent woman. A man thinking that would be deemed by some as toxic.

The ridiculous thing is, his family would have been fine if he'd stayed with at the saints. I doubt Ross is dragging the boys off for hookers and blow after every training session.

He rejected our club, and his mates, for a sales pitch to look like super hubby

He's the enemy now

F*ck that guy

Brad Hill moved away from his family to the other side of the country because his partner I wanted to live in Melbourne. I don't think Josh Battle is a unicorn.
Almost like you’d want your partner to be happy with the life you build together. Revolutionary stuff isn’t it.

If you had two offers in your field.

One is the most successful organisation in the industry over the last 50 years.

The other is an organisation that has failed every metric for over a century.

Which would you choose?

Saints didn't have the better off in front of him going by reports, until the final hour. When you've made your mind about changing workplace sometimes there's no going back.

Saints losing Battle is a failure on the clubs behalf, plain and simple.

Now this absolutely.

What does irk me is, is he giving us a whack by insinuating the Saints AREN'T a good club for families?
What issues have we had in the recent future?

Just using one comparison, let’s compare our handling of our Indigenous players to the absolute sh*tshow that appeared to be theirs.

Nah, he insults my club, he insults me.
Stuff him. We’ll cope.

I have this scene playing out in my head where a guy in a Saints jumper is dragging his woman out of a cave by the hair, with his starving, snotty nosed neglected children following along, weeping. The same guy then pulls on a hawks jumper and he's suddenly serving his wife tea and scones right before he builds the little ones an elobarate doll's house.

There's one simple reason why Battle is spouting the family club PR nonsense and not being honest about why he moved...

Adam Treloar

What’s this about?
Treloar was asked why he chose Collingwood over Richmond and he said that it was because Collingwood had the better list. 3 flags later and Treloar had a bit of egg on his face.

Battle can't come out and say that he chose Hawthorn because he wants to win a flag otherwise it will be held against him so he's got to go with a touchy feeling thing about morals and ethics.

Just like if we get LDU as a free agent he will talk about how we're a club he's always respected and how great we are. He won't mention the $2m a year he's on.

Cheers thanks for clearing that up.

Thought their might’ve been a scandal with Treloar rooting around or something and Battle did the same 😂.

Makes sense what you said.

Riiiiiiight

He doesn't have to go with any story

Battle was specific

If you think Battle''s partner and Mitchell's partner had nothing to do with it, I've got a bridge to sell you.

I might try that reply when someone says to me

They're fed the lines by the PR people. He has to do the hype videos for the fans.

The idea that Battle was dragged by the ear because his missus wanted an invite to Mrs Mitchell's famous boozy brunches seems like a leap.

It's so weird that people develop these parasocial connections to footy players and think they know them.

Doesn't matter why Battle left. He didn't move home across the country, he just changed his workplace by a few KM's.

Doesn't matter why he left, he left. No longer can be considered a St Kilda great (no one who leaves the club can have that title), not that he would have gotten that title anyway. Just another opposition player.
