I did those stats on I50, first because I'm bored at work (and apologies for errors), but also because I am excited by Weitering's return. I believe Weitering is our most important player. However, I thought that Weitering's absence might show in an increase in opposition I50s through repeat entries. But stats (and I note small sample size) don't seem to indicate that.

But I do think Weitering helps straighten us up with a stronger defence, that gives more confidence to midfield, which leads to better quality I50s for us. Games are won and lost between the arcs, but I wouldn't be surprised in these past few weeks we've been more toward defensive 50 than attacking 50.
Our scoring has definitely gone down since Weiterings been out. Whether it's because of it, or other reasons like the quality of our opposition, don't know.

But I think you're right that we have been a bit more defensive with some of our structures and wingers to try to cover the hole and help our defence more...meaning it's harder for us to be offensive and score ourselves.

Not only that but Weiters takes a lot of intercept marks which can lead to offensive chains and i50s instead of a d50 ground ball. Also frees up Young a bit and the two together can form a brick wall.

This is exactly why I posted what I did in the Cripps thread a few days or a week ago.

Add Pitto and a healthy backline that not only acts as a safety net (enables our mids and small forwards to play more offensively/aggressively) but will generate it's own share of high percentage offense and we will be a much better football team.

The injuries over the past couple or so months really do hold us in good stead going forwards. We know what it's like to survive without them (if something goes awry in a final) and we should - theoretically - be fresher going into the finals.

Good times ahead should we win what we should and get to finals.

Forget about Jones, what is he 31/32ish, wouldn’t jab up for us and turns the ball over all the time when he kicks across ground..... focus on younger options with more upside !!
Interesting that * are looking at him. Pushes back the development on their young talks like Reid, BZT, Cox

Cox will likely not play back, flagged by people in the club to play as a wing or forward. I know people within the four walls there.

Looks like Jones is a stop gap, to tide them over for a year.

I'd prefer a 31 year old? Jones as a 1 year gap-filler, who could also play ruck than a 43 year old Goldstein. Draft a good young KPD and let OMac and SDurdin go.
Just depends on the contract requirements.
oops. I replied to the wrong post.

Yeh he would be perfect for what we need. Could fill in back, forward or ruck, only takes one list spot and allows us to draft for the future.
Doubt it happens but.
