Let me guess - bookies want Collingwood to lose every week, just like the media?

Collingwood are a “public” team, their lines are normally inflated by supporters betting on them over and above what their form warrants. So yes, most weeks the bookies would be happy for Collingwood to lose or fail to cover the spread.

In a players first 30 or so games I reckon you’re looking for moments.

What impressed me the most about his game was the raw core strength to stand up in/shrug tackles to dish out a handball. Pretty much never see a first gamer do that, even if they’re a mature ager. Just wait til he feels comfortable and confident at the level and he’ll be a brute.

Lovely decision making, vision and execution hitting up Checkers too.

A few close pings on goal shows he could be a scoring threat.

All in all, a very encouraging debut.

Yeah well said.

Some of us though one way or the other but I think this best describes it. One thing he does have is footy brains.

Some promise and better positioned than Poulter, McCrae & Brown x2

I'm pretty happy with that debut. For me, what impressed was his ability to withstand a tackle and still getting a handball away. He doesn't look like an athlete at the moment, but look out when he does. Obviously a big lad with a strong core, looking forward to when his fitness improves.
Looked to have good composure when being tackled and when he took a bounce and passed to Mihocheck.
Well done, looking forward to seeing his progress.
Yep, hasn’t quite got an AFL body yet but he’ll transform into that after a preseason or two. Then he’ll be an inside beast!

Haven’t watched the tv coverage so not sure if they showed them at all, but there was a massive contingent of Carmichael family and friends on the Olympic Stand side of the ground first level up. Had their own individual Carmichael chant going. Fantastic support of the debutant
Didn't know that but I definitely heard them from across the ground.

All true 76 but even on the replay it was clear that a result that would ease the pressure on the Roos was highly valued by those with the ability to influence the result.

Who benefits the most from such a result?

The answer of course is crystal clear to anyone who thinks about it objectively . . .
Posits a baseless, bias riddled conspiracy theory and thinks they are being objective. Seems about right.

The pleasing thing is he’s shown potential on the outside as well. He’s going to be a very strong bodied mid good on transition if he puts the work in.

Thought he did pretty well tbh for a bloke who’s been there for 4 weeks. I’m not sure if he’s going to be a regular this season under the assumption of no more injuries, but looks to have plenty of ability and 12 months in a professional environment will do wonders
I think a professional summer will do him absolute wonders

Showed a bit in his first game. Low possessions, but showed a bit in tight, and two great kicks inside 50 hitting Mihocek on the chest. Keep him in the next month and I reckon he'll hold his spot. I wouldn't be surprised if he snuck ahead of Lipinski by end of year.

Think he showed enough to retain his spot. Was tough in the clinches. Love the way he stands up in tackles, gets his arms free and disposes of the footy.
