Review Rd 21 - 1 of 6 Down, Freo Get Up Over the Dogs

I already feel revolting just for uttering the words, but let's go Carl-nine! Just win today, and then go right on back to losing! Thank you, come again!
Actually would need them to win all three. Melbourne next week then Collingwood. Win two of those, and we’re in. Collingwood have to beat Sydney and that’s even more beneficial.
Sydney gave an easy draw, North today and St Kilda last round.
Realistically, prefer Collingwood to win their remaining games as they’re 6 points ahead anyway. Can still lose once and still be 2nd. On the other side, Sydney lose once and Fremantle win their remaining two, and it’s 4th.

Great game by Freo - glad we're confirmed in the finals.

It was unfortunate Peel doesn't play this week, would have been good to see who else is pushing up to replace Tabs. I think a straight swap for Switta would mean the team would be unbalanced.

Thought Serong, Mundy, Ryan, Lobb, Clark were really good. Acres improved again, O'Driscoll good, Darcy was solid. In fact I'm finding it hard to think of anyone that didn't contribute. Aish is better with a specific role in my view.

Cox gives away 2-3 goals every single week, as in literally just hands them to the opposition like hes playing for the opposition. Some weeks like this one it doesn't matter he just turns a 6 goal win into a 3 goal win, other times he turns wins into draws and small wins into losses

Disagree on Cox, we were sitting behind the goals and Cox out positioned JUH on most occasions. JUH had few looks that you couldn’t really do anything about.

It was an odd strategy as we put no time into Bruce yet he kind of spudded it up big time so it didn’t really matter.

He's given away the least goals of any of our defenders, and up there with the least of any KPDs in the league.

Fixed it for you mate. Most overrated player on our team and it's not even close.

Again, poses the question? Why and how does Fyfe play into this team?
Finals experience is invaluable and Fyfe is the only one at Fremantle with that much experience. Lobb hasn’t play finals with Fremantle nor has Aish
Probably in place of Tucker (though we lose a heap defensively then - hope the moving of Aish and running back of Acres and Noddy make up for it), or Tabs I guess. Hard to say as not fully fit, or firing on all cylinders.

Next year it's a straight swap for Mundy I'm guessing.

Hard no. Cox is an absolute gun, and arguably should be AA. Looks lazy for sure, but is superb regards positioning, marking, distribution and decision making. He'd walk into any side in the comp.

I assume you played defence and never made a mistake and never got a goal kicked on you.

Sure they make a few mistakes but the aim of the game is to kick goals. I played defence and it’s not easy.

Certainly Alex Pearce is awkward at times. Muffs a few kicks like that horrible mistake against Richmond and then running full tilt out of the backline proceeded to in only APearce style to manage to trip over himself. I’m just glad he didn’t injure himself.

APearce won some crucial one on ones and generally doesn’t get beaten too often. Naughton got two of his goals when NOD booted the ball out of bounds right next the behind post and the other goal was when APearce charged at the ball but then tripped over and really all the biased commentators thought it was a a free kick for Pearce. The ball came out of that awkward moment and was smashed on the boot near the boundary and Naughton marked the ball whilst being manned up against Ryan/Cox.

Cox loses a few contests and occasionally his lackadaisical approach catches him out like the last goal for WB but he wins his fair share of one on ones and is an elite intercept marker.

The defence has not been our Achilles this year.

Problem is Mundy is capable of breaking tackles and running away and setting up kicks on the lead.
Fyfe on the other hand doesn’t have the speed and is contested bull. Brodie is the midfield humming machine and better at it these days.

Lobb gets traded has to put Fyfe in the frame to be 80/20 forward just like him.

Best advice on this is listen to it on ABC radio
Much more pleasant experience
VicBias is never going away
I was listening to them yesterday while driving and got to hear Freddy described as a tall forward…

This year I have been to the Saints, Sydney, Collingwood and Melbourne home games (losses)

My Melbourne mate has been to the Geelong, Melbourne, Essendon and St Kilda away games (wins).

Bizarre year and honestly I feel better about winning in Melbourne during finals than at Optus, which we will need to do to get over there in the first place.

Fyfe is quicker than Mundy and just as capable, if not moreso of breaking tackles. His outside game is extremely underrated (though admittedly doesn't have the footskills of Mundy). Hard to compare him this year as, after a year out, he's rusty as buggery, but if looking at next year, he'd be more than effective in the Mundy role.

That being said, I agree with him heading forward in the event of the Lobb trade, or Tabs going down. Brodie is definitely the in and under guy now.

Excuse the intrusion, I just wanted to say well played yesterday. You looked incredibly well drilled and organised and I thought the score flattered us in the end. David Mundy once again made me wish we had him instead of Steven Koops, amazing career and still playing well.

You have a good coach and lots of young talent on your list - you should be in for a few exciting seasons. Good luck in the finals, I will be cheering you on
