Stringer. In form is unstoppable.

Yeah Stringer is great when he's on, but his best and worst are a fair way apart which is a bit of a problem.

On a different note

Just quietly despite missing time this season and copping a lot of critics, JDG is top 15 or so in the coaches votes. Special talent.

I think with a young list like we have with so few older leaders now he would be a massive risk to bring into our side. But as a free hit without giving up draft collateral it is a hard temptation to avoid with his free agency.

God the Essendon board is a bunch of whiny b*****s

Tell them once their player dived and they collectivly lose their minds

You're beyond brave to actually post there. I generally just go there for a giggle - or to see if I have finally been featured in their delusional pearlers thread.

Once again the Fox Footy strap line excels: with Josh Kennedy's retirement they've called his father "Josh jnr". Thank god they called his grandfather John Snr.

Hopeless.

I went there once and I'm pretty sure I ended up with Herpes. I steer clear these days.

And the way we were treated in 2020 with the COVID bullcrap was unforgiveable. The Hawks were hung out to dry in the Barossa by the incompetent Overpaid Doucheknuckle Polo Yacht Club AFL executive. So many players with families, and young kids with no outlet and losing their support structures, it sounds lke it was an utter debacle.

I think Isaac might not be the sharpest tool, so the words come out undiplomatically, but I sympathise with hating your job (especially after so much success and hard work). But usually the same unpretentious honesty is a positive thing.
Yep people underestimate how much of a shit show it was when talking about the club that year. Players didn’t even have phone or wifi coverage or access to any food or coffee outside of what was being put on, awful facilities, etc etc. First world problems, but they make a big difference when you’re young, have families at home and are just hanging around all day. The clubs in Queensland got an absolute free ride in comparison.

Thing I hate the most about COVID is that it totally ****ed up my two clubs (Hawthorn and Storm) in terms of retaining players, and in so many other ways. In retrospect, it's amazing Storm were able to win the premiership in 2020 and go on a 19 game winning streak last year. But do we get any credit for any of it? No, just the usual blind hatred from the NSW media and supporters of shit NSW clubs. 🤦‍♂️ It's enough to make me want to walk away from the whole shitshow now.

I mean it’s almost as if you were responsible for the worst deliberate salary cap breaches in the history of the sport that resulted in two farcical ‘no premiers’ seasons and for the introduction of grappling/wrestling tactics which has turned the game into an unwatchable version of itself. Can’t imagine why neutrals don’t exactly love the Storm.

Makes you wonder whether the AFL administration actually know what they're doing.

Do you lean towards complete incompetence (a byproduct of only hiring your private schoolboy mates and their hangers-on)? Or do you lean towards mild corruption or careless bias (in other words, they knew it would suck for certain teams, and made absolutely sure it wasn't their current favourites.)

I'm genuinely unsure. But I am positive that a large majority of posters in this forum would do a better job running the AFL. And that the TV rights would essentially sell themselves.

Call me cynical, but the AFL is an embarrassingly reactionary amateur crazytime sh!tshow run by Old Xaverian polo doucheclowns who are wildly overpaid, and draining the game of longterm fans while milking it for the appearance of a short-term financial sugar hit. Convince me otherwise.

This is what makes Aussie Rules a far bigger growth sport than Rugby League. The AFL wants to be the national sport, where NRL is content to coast off NSW parochialism. Give it a couple of generations (at the most) and the AFL will be more popular in Queensland than the NRL, then it'll be NSW left as the last League hold-out purely due to state pride.

The polo shirt comment. Haha. I bet when they want to get wild down at Portsea they have the collar up too.

Interesting call - Queensland is insanely passionate about league. NSW is flippant about everything so the NRL shouldn’t rely on that market alone (look at Sydney NRL crowds). Will be interesting to see what comes of the NSW government stadium stand-off - if the NRL grants future grand finals to Brisbane then it might be a huge boon for the sport there.

There’s also the second Brisbane team coming into the competition - however they’ve been given such little time to put it together and missed most of their marquee signings so could be doomed to be a fairly poor side which won’t help them at all.

Justin Reeves sure knows how to give someone a heart attack:

Thankfully it was just about moving our AFLW game versus *.

Related queries - it's a shame Glenferrie Oval is not being considered as our AFLW home ground, assume it's lacks the required facilities etc..?
Also assume once Dingley is operational our AFLW team will be based/play home games there...?

I calls it how I sees it. I've got a lot of family on the GC and the Sunshine Coast and both of those areas are really growing in terms of AFL supportership, and Brisbane is far more pro-AFL than Sydney tends to be. Dw though, I'm not going to start the Gold Coast back and forth we've had a couple of times again!

The worry for the NRL is that it's a small shift in gambling policy away from having almost no commercially viable clubs, and the AFL is starting to win over the hearts and minds of the youngsters in those areas. Also the women through the AFLW.

Dingley is absolutely the ground for the future. I think Glenferrie is a public park these days - so probably wouldn't cut it for AFLW games.

I am all for your predictions - I am an Aussie Rules convert and only maintain any interest in the NRL because of the Raiders. And Qld is definitely more fertile ground for the AFL than most of NSW - it is a weird apathetic sporting state.

I'm not going to derail the Big Boy thread because it should be, rightly, all about him. So I will say it here in absence of a 2023 captaincy thread. I am now the #1 ticket holder on the Dimma for Captain bandwagon.

The last I was there the Olympic weightlifting team was training out of the rooms there. My old man sold a lot of gym weights to them.
Would’ve been 5/6 yr ago now but I remember being stunned at how small the place is
