THEM

Swans' fans help find Sam Reid's foot

Fans run onto the field after Lance Franklin kicks his 1000th goal (AFL)

THE GAME

Swans fans are the Village Idiots of the AFL

When Buddy kicks a point they clap like seals and cover themselves in white wine

However, their administration is ruthless

COLO gone - no problem

Their coterie organises broking or banking jobs for favourite sons

Like us, they hate bottoming out

This will be a good game between 2 sides finding out how good they can be

A GF between us and them would be an AFL ratings dream

We'll win

Maynard epitomises the hunger of the team - I like him starting in the centre to rev-up some of their cocky mids

Jamie Elliott is eating what he kills

McCreery won't retire, he'll be re-wilded

Ash will kick 8 one week

And, God love our backs - they are a confident band of brothers

Kudos to the prep the coaching staff put into shutting down the final 2 minutes

I will be at the SCG and enjoy us locking in 12 in a row

Do Sydney still bang on about the Bloods culture? What rubbish.

I was at the G in 2005 when they won their first flag in 72 years. An old South fan sat next to me, and looked like he might die in the last quarter. I gave him a hug and promised to call an ambulance if he deteriorated further. Fortunately he survived, and the Swans/South/Bloods won. I was happy for them.

But now I’m bored with them. They sing Sweet Caroline at half time. They turn their back on the game to chat about Sydney real estate with the rows behind.

It’s an insult to footy. It’s an insult to Brayden (the Panel Beater) Maynard who looks and plays like he belongs in the mighty Collingwood Machine of the 1920s.

Some light work coming up tomorrow.

You can't be too hard on the Northerners VP. It's a long ingrained cultural thing with them.

Lived up there for a couple of years and come to understand that for a large percentage of 'supporters' it's all about the League's club with the football team coming a distant last.

That's the way rugby is organized and that is their sum total of commitment to AFL.

Have a soft spot for old South Melbourne fans - men and women who worked at the markets, and docks, and threw their panties at Laurie Nash

You couldn't tell if a Sydney fan was having a heart attack - the botox and fillers don't permit a grimace

Laurie Nash was a mate of my dear old Dad. But I don’t remember any stories about panties…

Dad wouldn’t have mentioned such a thing in front of the ladies.😍

In their defence they were removed from their heartland.
They were plonked into a City that didn’t understand the game, nor care about it.
Unfortunately not much has changed.
Attendance at the game is seen as a social outing and the trendy thing to do when they’re winning.
Run for the hills when they’re losing, (Melbourne supporters head for the snow).
I too was there and rapt. when they won their long awaited Premiership.
Seeing Delta cheering on resplendent in her two piece white leather outfit was another highlight of the day.
Nowadays I‘d still be happy with the latter, but couldn’t care if they don’t win another flag.
The stakes seem higher this week than last, which of course they’re not.
I‘d “happily” take a 3 point percentage boost though.

Mum was a rabid South Melbourne supporter dating back to the day they were called the 'Bloods'.

She passed in 1990 so when they won one up north I broached one of the bottles of Laphroaig and toasted 'The bloods' and her.

I'm sure dad wouldn't have minded as he passed in 1964.

The remaining bottles are over 50 years old now and I'm anxious to broach at least one more before I pass.

Although it might open doors to a Nappy San sponsorship… I don’t think they want crowds leaning over the fence screaming out ‘Carn the bloods’ to their women’s team.

but then again… sensitivities are out the window when the comp logo is a dish rack

So if they are no longer the bloods they should evoke the dreaded point piper spirit (of tax evasion) and rally to the cry of ‘Turnbulls’

And let’s face it… these days they are more foie gras than south Melbourne market dim sim

Crack one open at 6 tomorrow. Celebrate 12 in a row and Naicos 3 Brownlow votes.

Darcy Cameron seen at airport - presume catching flight to Sydney..

I hope so. Did you question him on his intentions? Domestic or International Airport? Anyone of interest with him?
My son saw him - domestic 😂 - suggested to son he ask him about Grundy - no response to that yet - stand by.....

I’ve had a crap week. I’m really hoping the boys get up for a win! Need some good vibes!

Yeah, bad days or weeks happen, but you can bathe in that comforting feeling that comes from the last 11 games.

Thinking of the Bumbers, & bloos supporters absolutely frustrated & seething at what we've achieved this year over last.

Both of them have been rebuilding since last century. We've done it in 3 month. !!!!!
