I'm one of those supporters that doesn't see much in McStay, but i don't get the shit talking or name calling etc. But if he signs i'll back him and hope he becomes a great player for us, McStay shouldn't be anything but a relief ruck cause he is getting well and truly beaten by Nankervis. It was a nice mark and goal, looked like strange kicking action though.

A few things to note, McStay's stats are inflated by his role, still he's competing really well. He has been really good at killing the ball in the air defensively. I suspect that's where we see a role for him but forward, halving contests when we're forced to kick to the square and the opposition defense is set.

For what we are paying McStay I would say that should be his bench mark game most weeks but he’s pretty inconsistent imo. Hopefully we see the best of him.

I don’t think anyone would have an issue with the reported contract if this was his benchmark.

McStay had a great game. Nank was probably BOG. McStay was very competative against a 1st ruck.

Well he played in the ruck for a fair bit because their ruckmen got concussed 2 minutes into the first quarter

McStay had a great game in a final. Was quiet in Q4 but big in last 2 mins. Must have been knackered having to ruck against Nank all night. And will have to do it next week too.

If he comes to us, I’d like him playing a little leaner. Looks a touch too heavy to me which detracts from his speed and agility.

But he’d be best 22 in our side on tonight’s form.
