In what way is he special? Good player, nothing more, nothing less imo
24 disposals & 8 score involvements is pretty damn good.

His stats for the season are just slightly less than Shai Bolton and people claim he’s the next big thing.

Bailey plays less midfield minutes than Bolton too.

Well then Bolton kicked 10 more goals playing less forward?

34 goals in 22 games verses 43 goals in 23 games.

Bolton is used as the 3rd target or sometimes as the 1st target in the Tigers forward line. He kicked the 2nd most goals for the Tigers.

Bailey was equal 3rd behind Cameron and Daniher.

Bolton is given a lot more opportunity and freedom.

Some posters wouldn't be satisfied if we managed to secure God as our CHF on a fairly modest contract. The fact that he would forever be available for selection and would immediately heal any injuries he might sustain still wouldn't persuade them he was worth recruiting.
Thought that was why we brought in JC in the mid-season draft?

I’m all on board in regards to getting Tom Mitchell especially if we lose Grundy.

When you compare the pair, Mitchell is an upgrade on Grundy. Grundy I’d a clearance player. Apart from the Hitouts, Mitchell dominates Grundy elsewhere.

If we are planning to go with “marking ruckman” rather than a clearance ruckman, Tom Mitchell is the perfect midfielder.

Quite sure if Mitchell went up against a Gawn then it wouldn't take long to realise he's not an upgrade.

We don’t need him up against Gawn. That’s the point. Cameron & Cox take care of Gawn, whilst Mitchell dominates as midfielder.

Grundy couldn’t take care of Gawn around the ground. He beat him in Hitouts and broke even on clearances. He would lose the contested marking.

We will have Cameron & Cox to compete in contested marking and Hitouts. Mitchell will replace Grundys clearance domination.

I'm happy to give Bobby Hill the benefit of the doubt if we're not giving up too much or paying him too much

Hills also been coached by a muppet for most of his career. GWS stifled his development with a gameplan devoid of a proper fwd set up. Cameron’s idea of a fwd set up was wasting Jeremy Cameron in the goal square and just roosting it on his head 24/7. With all that talent up fwd, Cameron just never got them to click fluently at all during his tenure.

To me Hill looks very much like a Brad Dick type. Hopefully injuries don’t ruin his career. Under the right coaching Hill would become an extremely reliable and classy small fwd. He would also provide a point of difference in our fwd line compared to other small fwds. We don’t really have a small fwd with his skill set.

2023 fwd depth chart

Key fwds - Mihochek, McStay, Krueger (full time) Cox, Cameron (part time)

Medium fwds - Johnson, McInnes, WHE, mcreery, Henry (if he stays) chugg, Magden

Small fwds - Elliot, Ginni and Hill (full time fwds) bianco, McRae, CarMichael (part time).

For the right price, Hill could be a bargain for us. Worth the risk

Im a big fan of Aaron Francis when he’s fit, he’s the right age and can play forward and back. Hoping he’s Grown into his body and his recurring injuries are thing of the past. Worth a crack given he’ll walk for next to nothing.

Paddy Dow is another I wouldn’t mind having a crack at, former high pick could be a good rotation on ball with a bit of speed as a contrast to Adams. Again only if he comes cheap.

I confess to knowing little about Frampton but on the surface it seems he has had plenty of time to make a go of AFL footy but hasnt.

8 seasons, 2 clubs, 24 games. Been moved back since 2021 and that doesnt seem to have clicked for him by selection.

Can anyone think of someone who has had such a long time in the AFL then becoming a player?

Frampton ✅

- Yes he hasn’t been a regular in the crows defensive line up but they are stacked with young talls… and has a coach who obviously has favourites and rules a line through others irrespective of form eg Crouch

- dunn, Roughead, Lipinski weren’t playing regular seniors either but were of great value to the pies

- look at his stats this year vs Moore

Smaller sample yes. And not saying he is the player Moore is… but clearly Frampton as part of our 2023 defensive mix only adds to it

All the better that he arrive on a moderate wage and it will be a cheap trade
8 seasons for 24 games. Dropped early on in 2022 and didnt get back, just 6 games. Dont think you an compare.that to Darcy.

I think he’s not a bad money ball selection and will cost virtually nothing.

Having watched him a bit I reckon he has the ability to play to a similar level as Roughie. Not a world beater by any means, but a lock down defender who is capable of taking the bigger key forwards. Also capable of taking an occasional intercept mark with his kicking probably superior.

It will be important for us as it will free up Howe, Moore and Murphy to come across and intercept mark.

Unfortunately given the types players in Adelaide’s backline I think they were expecting too much from him.

He’ll be competing with Dean, and Kelly to a lesser extent, for that role, but there is an opportunity there. At worst he will be great depth.
