2022 Rules On Goal Posts

3.3 GOAL POSTS AND BEHIND POSTS 3.3.1 Position
(a) Two posts, to be called goal posts, shall be a minimum height of six metres and a maximum height of 15 metres and be placed at each end of the Playing Surface at a distance of 6.4 metres apart.
(b) A further two posts, to be called behind posts, shall be a minimum height of three metres and a maximum height of 10 metres and be placed at a distance of 6.4 metres on each side of the goal posts so that a straight line can be drawn on the ground to join each post.
So, nothing in the laws to say you can't have 7 metre goalposts and 9 metre behind posts...

I think the posts should be shorter so that we can do it to Richmond again when they come to the Gabba
Posts that can go up and down. Whatever way Richmond are going, posts down...

After watching Riewoldt on AFL 360 last night and they showed the replay again of the goal review something suddenly stuck out at me. Not sure whether been mentioned and i must admit i had the volume down but noticed when Lynch played on Andrews moved off the mark before the umpire had waved his arms for play on. Not sure whether umpire had called play on before but geez i must admit it looks like it should have been a 50metre penalty. Maybe another thing the Richmond people can be complaining about.:D

If the ARC had said it was "Umpire's call", we( Lions supporters) would have all been pissed off

If the ARC calls it a point, as they did, Richmond supporters end up being pised off

Better for them to be pissed off:cool:
Yes, but the story wouldn’t have even made it to air if we’d been on the short end - as evidenced by a couple of horrendous overturned calls that ended up costing us top 4 this year

Plenty have been don't worry. Lynch was clearly off his mark when he took off but it doesn't look like the umpire had signalled anything when he took off. Tough to ping someone for 50 because you're slow to make a call though!

Finally got around to watching the replay today
It was a high scoring game 106-104
I just noticed today with 12 minutes 50 seconds to go (+time on) the scores were 99-102 just after a Richmond goal
So who scored in the remaining time
Richmond-
Lynch 1 point from 40 meters out directly in front.
Then Lynch again in that 1 point (ARC) also easy shot for player of his kicking ability
Lions-
McCarthy 40 meters out on slight angle but favouring his correct foot but also just 1 point
Then with 60 seconds left Joe's big toe connects sweetly surrounded by 5 Richmond defenders for 6 points

Being at the game i just did not realize only 9 points in total scored in that time period
Prior to Lynches last 2 points he had kicked 24 goals 4 behinds in his last 5 games including the 3 for this game (so now it's 24g 6b)

I was thinking myself if Lynch kicks that it's game over . And 80% of the time any player would kick that . He was 7 yards out. Not the acutest of angles .Just pop it thru with your left. For him it should've been a soda.

And the narrative re the Lions would've been what we've heard over the last couple of years. We can't win big games.

Instead we now think we 're all of a sudden a contender.

Funny game football. Your whole view of yourself rests on one unlikely mistake.

Im pretty sure I saw the theatrical release before in 2006. Hardwick was all shaven, sitting on a golden throne. Reiwoldt, Lynch, Dusty and Cotchin had to bend down in the right order to make some stairs for Hardwick. Hardwick had come to negotiate peace. We just had to let them win this one at the Gabba and they would then return back to the MCG. We just needed to give a tribute of a couple of goal posts. Fagan refused and Daniher then kicked the football and a bunch of Richmond defenders into a pit. Oh and there was this hunchback guy Cumberland who was one of the Lions but he betrayed Fagan and ended up joining Hardwick. Good film that one but the CGI doesn't look so flash nowadays

Big props to Luke Hodge for identifying our wingers for that last bounce when they were standing off-camera (although I had to guess which wings they were on). If he could do that for every game of ours, that would be appreciated.

I love that you said ‘yards’

Had a quick look at the Richmond "umpire error that costs us our season" thread

I was not aware that Trump supporters followed the AFL

Someone said this earlier in the week and I wholeheartedly agree - Richmond supporters are the closest thing we have to MAGA supporters
