Norm Smith Medallist Johannisen played five straight seasons from 2016-2020, averaging between 83 and 93 ranking points, more than 21 possessions in four of them and kicking the ball at over 70 per cent in every one of those years.

Gold Coast is interested and, while he hasn’t been offered a three-year deal yet, he’s a free agent who can slot straight into the back six as a hard-running, long-kicking defender.

Gold Coast has sold him on the vision of actually playing as a defender, rather than a bits-and-pieces half forward, but with three defenders out with ACL tears he would be the perfect value defender who is far from perfect, but neatly fills a hole.

Really hope it's 2 years plus a trigger for JJ. He will be handy next year (no worse than Markov anyway), doubt he'll be much use by the third year though.

He's contracted for another year so you'd think it would be at least a second.
Hopefully he has a breakout year and stays or get decent value for the time put into him

Sharp is contracted so unless we are getting a high 2nd rounder or a good player in return, hold him till next year and hope he improves and gets starting minutes, convincing him to stay.

It's basically just negotiations at this point.
GC will ask for 2 firsts and a player, Adelaide will say we'll give you a future first.
It will settle at pick 5 for Rankine with some future pick swaps thrown in.
It's meeting somewhere in the middle to appease both sides
