Bell is a smart cookie. He can smell that we might end up with a couple of first rounders with Dunkley going and he’s hoping we are stupid enough to do a Gold Coast. Let’s hope we aren’t that dumb.
Power hasn’t been the first to blink yet. Held strong with Dunkley because Essendon wouldn’t pay up and stole Treloar for peanuts all on the same day. He won’t go anywhere near a first for Rory Lobb.

The only player I want from Brisbane is Rayner (that is from Victoria).

Kai Lohmann might be a list need.
Raynor is a former Jets boy and an absolute gun but can't see them letting him go, especially after they nursed him through an ACL

Bell is not smart. Power will go nowhere near any of our firsts (should we get more than one).
If we were even considering a first rounder being involved for a forward/ruck I'd rather we chase Soldo again. Big body, better ruck so supports Timmy more, and can play as a genuine first ruck so we have a proper back up in case English misses games.
Richmond need picks and cap room for Hopper and Taranto and negotiations for him to come to us ran late last year so their ears would at least be open.

Stevie J worth a look re assistant coach? Bloody good forward craft.
He done an assistant coach stint at two clubs now so he'd have some ideas at least.

There is zero chance we get a current best 22 player from Brisbane in any hypothetical Dunkley trade. We keep saying we'll walk away from Lobb should the price be too high, the same can be said for Brissy. They are getting Dunkley to load up, not to let one of their young stars go the other way.

Difference being Dunks actually has lots of value though so IF we did offer a big contract and pry someone out then they’d have to entertain it.

But I agree it’s very unlikely, when I look at that list I don’t see anyone that we’d really be able to get out. I genuinely think Dunks hasn’t decided where he’s going so it puts us on the back foot a bit in giving us time to figure something out which is frustrating.

Really wouldn’t surprise me if there’s another twist & another club gets involved

The thing is Brisbane need all their picks as they need to match bids on the probable #1 pick this year, who is the son of Marcus Ashcroft.

Even if McStay compo is end of first, they still barely have points to match.

As they should be high up next year, a future first doesn't hold great appeal, so what else do they have to offer?

Hope you're right!

Kai Lohmann isn't best 22 and has been mentioned a few times, and if we did have interest in Darcy Gardiner he's a FA so Brisbane would be resigned to losing him anyway.

There's every chance they 'game' the system by trading a future first to us and going into a points deficit this year as then the deficit will only be applied to later picks next year. We might have a handshake Gardiner FA bid as well so they get extra points this year. There are quite a few ways the two clubs could make this work.

And Jaspa Fletcher (projected to be an end of first round pick)

This is how Ding Dong has started every negotiation in which he’s eventually given up the player or pick he said he wouldn’t

He said he wouldn’t trade Neale (the “feather in his cap”) but did. He said he would walk away from the Hogan trade but ended up giving up 6 & 23 anyway. He said he wouldn’t trade Hill without pick 6 as a starting point but did it anyway for pick 12.

This is the mating call of the Ding Dong. Now commenced it is inevitable that we will consummate our courtship before trade week is through.
Yep. They’ll add Jackson and a Corbett type and then backflip on Lobb is my bet

Right, so we lose one of our best 22 (let's say best 3-5) and can't ask for one of their best 22 in return? 🤔

It's quite amusing seeing all the dockers fans celebrating like he won't go when we all know it's already done and Ding Dong is just trying to "build" his reputation

Neither Lobb or Soldo are close to a first rounder. Soldo worth less than Lobb

"If" was the operative word in that hypothetical.
TBH I think Soldo would be worth more - 3+ years younger, can ruck. Might be just my preference of which player I'd prefer though

How often do best 22 players get exchanged between clubs? I honestly can't think of one example. It's incredibly rare in the first place that ANY players are exchanged in trades going both ways.

Very rare.
You'd have to go back to 2019 to find anything - Blake Acres was part of the Brad Hill deal.
Maybe Smedts and Thouey in 2016 before that, but even then it's a stretch.

You wouldn't want McCluggage??? He's exactly what we need...

Or Harris Andrews (TECHNICALLY he's Victorian... ;):tonguewink:)

As an aside, Brisbane really need to work on their player bios...

Half of this was written in 2020, the other half in 2017....

Oh oh. Might soon be time to change your BF username.

Maybe replace the “ly” with “-to-me “?

If Dunkley wants to go to Brisbane, we ask for McLuggage, they say no, we say Rayner, they say no, we say Coleman. They won't want to loose any of those 3 and Coleman is a Queenslander so hard to get him out but they are the only 3 worth considering for our needs. Coleman looks an absolute star of the future.
I don’t see it with Rayner. Very underwhelming.

I agree, he’s still got time though especially coming off the knee. Out of interest how old is he compared to Petracca when he did his knee? Feel like they’ve both been similarly underwhelming pre knee, Petracca obviously exploded afterwards but remains to be seen whether Rayner will do the same

Soldo is an out and out ruck though isn’t he? Not really a forward.
