So much to improve from this game, as has been mentioned - a number of heeney’s set shots/contests, papley’s attempted assists, Blakey’s soft frees.

In John we trust, but I just did not think putting an extra back and playing so defensively in the last quarter was the way forward. IMO it puts our defense under more pressure, gives less options for our mids from clearances. Momentum is a powerful thing and we are so unfortunate.

Was disappointed by a number of missed throws, some really soft frees, and a number of missed holding the ball.

Team Amartey if Benjamin Reid’s brother does not get up.

Can I close by saying I never want to see heeney, mills or Gulden in the ruck ever again..?

We got away with that. Not to say we didn’t deserve it, because we did after dominating a large portion of the game, but we almost undid all of our good work by going into our shells and I don’t think many of us would have felt very forgiving after throwing away a final by less than a goal as we did last year.

Having said that, we hung on and I am genuinely confident we’ll win the grand final. I think this is the most relaxed I’ve felt going into a grand final. I feel like we learned all the lessons we needed from that last quarter and we’ll be better for it.

In the end its really a crazy result the amount of variables in that last 30secs with the loose ball in our defensive 50 you could replay that scenario so many times and the result would be different every time.

Does anyone else think of this stuff or just me? Sport is really a game of luck for the most part.
Totally. That’s why they talk about the one-percenters.

But in those last 30 seconds, everything was .01 percenters.

Horse also made some comments about Clarke after the game tht we’re unusual. The journalist thought Clarke had a good game but Horse immediately said that Daicos got free in the second half. Horse also said that he wasn’t sure what would happen with Geelong this week. It was hard to tell if his thinking was scattered and he was no longer thinking about Clarke when he said it.

I hope Clarke stays in - I think he deserves to and we saw what happened when we took him out for the Essendon game. I am also not sure who he would go out for? Wicks or Ronke? Maybe we would go tall with both Amartey and Reid starting? I hope not.
I didn't hear it that way...

I heard he (Clarke) did a great job on Daics for the first three quarters, and in the end Collingwood moved him forward for the last quarter.

Funny how two people hear the same thing and interpret it differently!

At the ground its a count up clock and not count down. Both benches were putting up signs on how long left and both got them wrong. It was soo flipping nerve wracking. At one point Collingwood put up a 2min sign and we put 1min lmao. Everyone was cooked haha.

I'm still shaking in disbelief on how we held on. I thought for sure it would be a Collingwood fairytale. Relief and elation when we won. I still can't believe it.

Clarke is not going out of the team now unless its injuries. Hope Reid pulls up okay. It was noticeable how dominant Collingwood were in the air once Reid went off. Even his ability to bring it to ground is immense. Amartey for Reid, closest like for like and better option in the ruck than mclean.

I absolutely don't get this at all!!!

Everyone outside Melbourne wants us to win, and all the Collingwood rivalries want us to win...

While I think we'll be the underdogs, I absolutely think most people will want us to win!!!

GO BLOODS!!! :largeredcircle::mwcirlce::largeredcircle::mwcirlce:

We have a lot of support from the dislike Dangerfield group.

They did not take a backward step whole game.

We are not intimidated by anyone.

Well controlled where we didn’t give away any frees but there in numbers to fly the flag

Papley one of the best at it. So annoying and under you skin smart arsery but never lets it boil over where he gives a dumb free back.

Any win is a good win , but a prelim by a point is pretty special and truthfully the tight last quarter should should really focus the boys for the GF.

Fell away when Sam Reid got injured and not sure what happened in the last 5 minutes of the match when we took enough marks, but then kept kicking to contests.

I am pretty happy they won with so many weeks off in the last few weeks, great hit out to setup a good game next week.

Ceaser wouldn't have been happy with his celebrating with the crowd. :p

But getting everyone pumped up was amazing and works so well.

Thank you Parker!
That play where Parker just owned De Goey in a tackle and was rewarded with the HTB free (before Mills stupidly took the advantage) was when I knew De Goey wasn't gonna do shit. He started picking fights, whinging non-stop, fumbling and double-grabbing. That one play took a player who must've felt pretty invincible based off his first two finals and rattled him.

Parker's discipline and defensive game the second half of this year has been phenomenal and seriously underrated.

I’m an Amartey fan but someone posted his stats vs McLean’s a few pages back, and though there wasn’t ever much in it, McLean was basically better in nearly every respect.

fair enough but imo both have different gamestyles and amartey style suits our current forward line more than mclean, plus i think he puts a bit more defensive pressure in our forward 50 v mclean. Either way both have strengths and weakness.
