I'd like to know what it is about McDonald's game that you like. Zero possessions to half time and 6 after, one of which was a horrible clanger. Nice kid but seems to me to be way out of form.

i very much diasgree that he's "way out of form", he's not stinking up the place, he's stepping up where needed ...
took important marks second half, kicked a goal when needed (although it was a straightforward shot)
a really smart tap-on to papley in the second term that should've resulted in a goal
he hasn't been outstanding in recent weeks but he hasn't had to be
he offers more than anyone who'd replace him, he contributes when needed, and he's still very early in development, so all these sort of games are a huge part of his education ...
apart from that, he's quite clearly a good and valued member of the young core group of this team, nine wins on the trot into a grand final
why would you mess with team chemistry now!?!

We loooked a little out on our feet

Cats had an easy game
We should have been.It was played at a frenetic pace and we had not played for 15 days and played one in 12 days before that. So, one game in 27 days. That is why we were out on our feet in the last. Match conditioning was way down

Gutted for Sam Reid. Such a big part of our our progress this year. It didn't help our cause tonight when he went off.

Rowbottom was our best. Equal b.o.g with their Sidebottom.

JMac gave us something.

Commiserations to the Collingwood supporters. One point is no margin to lose a Prelim final by..but they lost no friends..

On the TV coverage: so wrapt to avoid the Brayshaw & BT commentary, and 'Roaming Brian'

Sydney Swans are into the Grand Final! ..Inside AFL House, there is red and white confetti streaming down..;)
Nah, AFL House, already had the black & white ready to go.

i think he did his role in both finals , and fought out when maybe you could drop your head , (not having a touch early)

takes key grabs , makes contests, drifted back

and if anything he is due for that game where he does a bit more

Our chances depend on Reid's groin now. Without his marking we are going to struggle next week. .
Warner must've been tagged 2nd half? 15 disposals vs 7. Got to learn to break one pretty quick because it's coming again next week all game.
Heeney never got going, worked hard, but didn't get a bounce all game either.
Rowbottom and Gulden fantastic.
Hickey real good again.
Good to see Bud and McInerney back contributing.
Hayward quiet but seemed to be doing the team/structure thing a lot.

If Reid is fit then Amartey needs to come in for McD. If he's not then I'd even consider Amartey & Ladhams (if possible) as ins with Reid & McD out.
Please read the posts. Ladhams got suspended for being a dickhead and charging an opponent in the reserves.

The freeze frame on Ginnivan tackling Warner without it highlights just one of a few missed frees in that passage. If they'd got a goal it would have been criminal.

yes, and the one thing you can see is he's a really calm, composed young player, he doesn't give away anything except during celebrations, and he's always a big part of that, and other players get around him
but as shown when he marked and goaled, he's not afraid to go for it, it's just a matter of time ...
and as i said, for a young potential star key forward, to be playing in these games, in this fantastic team environment, will be so important for his career development
if franklin finishes up, mcdonald will be a focal point of our forwards in the premiership defence

I think it would have altered our structure if we had replaced McDonald with Amartey for the finals. McDonald has got better running ability and is able to cover the wings defensively. So it is like having another medium forward. Amartey seems more comfortable at centre half forward where Reid usually is.

Only concern for me was how tired the boys looked in the 4th
That was because we had played only 1 game in 27 days. This bye system suits those who lose, the qualifying or win the elimination. Cats only got an easy pass because Lions were just dreadful. Thry just didn't turn up. No pressure, no picking up opponents. Typical Lions when they are off.
