Wow.

We're in the granny.

Still struggling to comprehend it.

A strange game. The first two and a half quarters we were great, the next one and a half? Less so. I feel like we went into lead preservation mode too quickly, and it nearly bit us on the arse. Kudos to Collingwood though, they just kept coming even when most other sides would've given up.

If anything that shows just how important Reid is to our structure. If he can't get up for the granny that would be a huge blow.

On the plus side, very strong from our midfield in the first three quarters - they kept Collingwood's most dangerous player basically anonymous and Mills and Warner had fantastic game themselves. I think their forward line was pretty well held, and a lot was on the shoulders of the Pendlebury's and the Crisp's of the world.

We're definitely underdogs next week but I've got no doubt we're gonna give it a great crack. Let's ****ing go!

yes, and the one thing you can see is he's a really calm, composed young player, he doesn't give away anything except during celebrations, and he's always a big part of that, and other players get around him
but as shown when he marked and goaled, he's not afraid to go for it, it's just a matter of time ...
and as i said, for a young potential star key forward, to be playing in these games, in this fantastic team environment, will be so important for his career development
if franklin finishes up, mcdonald will be a focal point of our forwards in the premiership defence
Franklin will finish I think. This finals series have pointed out just how limited his body has become. His strength, a feature of his game, is all but gone against strong opponents. May just pushed him off the ball like he was a little kid. When Moore finally went to him, same thing. A good thing he got a few before that.

Time is up for the big fella. I think Swans would be crazy to offer him a new contract. He has 1 more week. He will play on a strong opponent so must move up the ground. Otherwise he will have no impact.

i agree, i think he'll announce his retirement after next week ...
but he was really important in some big moments last night

Not just that one, DeGoey dives on the ball. It was HTB in any game ever. The umpires were trying to get them a goal.

Absolutely, the Chad one was just the most obvious. Think the entire transition started with a throw as well.

I think if he wanted to go on, he offers enough. Still draws a lot of attention including when three swarmed to him and let Rowy kick one.

Sadly I agree. He still creates havoc, but last night I feel like he’s starting to create havoc for himself too.

Sure. But when the body says no, it is the end. That is what is happening. I don't see him playing on. In fact, I would suggest it would be a regressive move for this group as they develop.

Got a great record in finals in juniors. Kicked 9 in the U18 SANFL Prelim & 4 out of 7 in a GF loss. So, no not a player to disappear. You forget he got 2.1 against Dees.

Didn't forget that , hope he's got his bad game out the way as he's so important to our structure .

i kept looking at crisp coming out of defensive 50, it's very close to incorrect disposal ... he half has it, gets tackled and he basically double slaps the ball forward

...and "WE" did it!! I feel like it was the first phase of healing after 2016 by ending the narrative last night...and with their own close defeat medicine - woohoo!

So stoked we clung in there...I slid off the couch like a blob of jelly when that rushed behind went (held!) through after the 100% tension of those last couple of seconds, knowing that we had the win. Flashback of 2005 waiting for the siren with the ball deep inside enemy territory in the dying stages for sure!
How was Callum's fist away in the clinches?!! Would have been a certain mark and goal - Match saver!! (Well, plus 10 other acts of desperation from the team in those final 30 secs or so including JMacs handball to goal line, etc).

My only concern now is that this had shades of the last SCG prelim in 1996...ie, we put so much into it and then ran out of legs in second half of the GF the week after. Let's hope the recovery week goes as well as can be and also Reidy becomes 100% ok - I'm slightly hopeful due to his early withdrawal from game.

End of the day, our record is good with the Cats & with the Swans mind & bodies in the right place then anything is possible next Saturday.
Thank Hickey it's only 6 days away too... much easier to cope with than recent waits!

I don’t think fitness will be an issue. Remember we’ve still only played twice in a month. Some good conditioning and mental prep this week will have us cherry ripe. It’s very frustrating that Reid could miss at the final hurdle but it’s not an excuse. We should be able to work around that and still push Geelong all the way.

100% holding the ball he was tackled by two players and one had a hand pinned. He propelled it forward with one hand with the first hit and then gave it another hit which always is holding the ball/ incorrect disposal

What’s with death riding Franklin to retirement.

He’s not as good as when he was younger but he’s been great leading our forward line bobbing up for for a few each time as a focal point.

Took some great marks laid a good tackle. Hardly someone not contributing. Was better than Elliott up the other end or at least as good. His strength seems ok to me he didn’t get buried holding the ball managed to pass it off under constant pressure.

He was beaten by May but every forward has those games.

I mean a lot see it as the end for him so guess there is something in that but I think he’s been good enough to go on another year if he wants to at Sydney
