Not that early I reckon.

100% at 19 is my guess.
I think they trade 19 to Hawthorne or the like for a F2 and a pick in the 20's. It's the most overvalued pick in the draft

They lost their F2 when they traded it to Brisbane for 15. They could recoup it back with interest by shifting back a spot or two if they wanted.
Yep. If Davey isn't bid on at that point I'd take up to it and see if we can get 57/61 on top of it.

did i read recently that Alwyn Jnr hasn't nominated Essendon yet? what does that mean for bids and whatnot? or are we double-covered as he was on our academy maybe?

Part of me wants a team to spite bid on Davey that doesn’t really want him at that selection. Then for us to let them take him. Kind of ****s us too and the other team would never admit they were spite bidding. So pretty pointless 🤣

Seems like there's not going to be many players picked up in the draft. Is this still a hangover from covid when there wasn't a great deal of visibility on the kids, or is it just that recruiters don't rate the depth beyond pick 60-ish?

Mid season drafted has also reduced to the pool. A lot of the 19-22 state league players have already been picked up aswell as the mature agers. For example jai culley and massimo go top 50 in this draft but they’re both already on lists.

eDPS does Max Walton get picked up? Impressed with him coming off the HB line for Gippsland this year. Novemeber birthday last year so not far off being in this years draft. Cheers

I can see GWS agreeing to 22 + F2 for 15 for a few reasons, despite the Dodo/McCartney angst. 1) They make out like bandits on that trade, 2) they are lousy with high-end picks this draft, and it makes sense to use some of that ammunition to improve their hand for next year's (reputedly stronger) draft, and 3) given 1 and 2, McCartney can sell it as a big "win" over Dodo.

Dodo's noggin may get in the way of it, but if Mahoney can reign him in and frames it objectively: the status quo probably has 22 getting burned on a bid anyway, so what we're really doing is converting an F2 into pick 15. Even if next year's draft is as strong as they say, that still feels like a great deal for us.

Lastly, if we take Mahoney at his word and EFC rates a group of 4-12 pretty evenly, our having pick 15 means that if one from that 4-12 group (on our board) slides, we can get them (a vanishing possibility at pick 22). It'd be a pretty compelling bit of business if we walk away from the draft with two kids that our team would have had in the frame for pick 4.

GWS traded 21 and their future 2nd to get 15 in the first place.

I dont see why they would accept literally the same trade to go back to a slightly worse pick.

They traded out of the 2nd round knowing they were getting a 2nd rounder from the Pies for Hill, later on in the trade period the option to go for pick 1 was available and they needed to use the Collingwood 2nd rounder to get that deal over the line.

After all that they don't have a 2nd rounder in 2023 (they have 2 1sts theirs and Tigs) maybe they'd like to get back in the 2nd round?

Swans might be ok with a slide back too.

In the 2018 draft, Port had a list of x players (maybe it was 13?) they would happily take. If none were available at their pick 18 they would trade into the 2019 draft. Some teams might have that strategy this year.

Anyone know what the knock on Phillipou? The more I watch him, he's literally a Bont clone

Same running gait and kicking action, it’s not an indicator that he’ll be as good but I agree, it’s pretty spooky.

Knightmare has done a 3 round mock and has us walking away with Tsatas, ADJ (at 16) and Munkara at 43.

Not gonna lie, that would be very underwhelming given we could rig it so we get those players and then an extra pick in the 20s if we were smarter, he has Cowan and Barnett going at 22 and 23 for example.
