So according to others on here you are either old, homeless, poor, got no fashion sense, secretly barrack for Geelong, love Jeff Kennet or all of the above.
😉
I bought a pair of Skechers shoes yesterday and I'm not homeless, (live with Mother), and don't barrack for Geelong, secretly or otherwise, so don't fit all the categories!

I walk briskly for about 10 hours weekly but most regular routes are on concrete or bitumen. Been using Salomon and Arcteryx light trail shoes, about 200gm per shoe but decided to try to walking shoes. My new Skechers seem very comfortable, are fairly priced and seem attractive to me.

Didn't see any of their branded apparel in store so can't comment on their apparel. Personally I'm fine with Skechers as a sponsor. At least we are not being associated with a climate change denier whose father made racist comments 40 years ago.

Puma were great for marketing. They were terrible for colouring though

This. Also, and I get others might differ, but I really disliked the white back panel for the numbers and the Adidas guernseys have been a far cleaner look on that front - and the inversed stripes away guernsey we had a few years there was bloody good. I think all the other Adidas merch has been fairly meh and I am disappointed we never got a Adidas Originals tracksuit in the brown and gold out of the deal.

I’m actually fine with anyone who wants to sponser us yes including Skechers (just the change from Adidas a lot of people might describe as chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of brand ) , Gina Rhinehart , Alinta , Exxonmobil whoever. I just think although as I’ve been recently educated Skechers make really comfortable nurse shoes they’ve bought out some real low rent shockers in the past in the field of mens footwear and I think it would be an hilarious scenario if our players all well paid athletes up to date with the latest fashions as most of them are were made to wear the sponsers range to official functions.
Apart from that I hope they’d bring our 2023 range out soon and hopefully there’s some innovative colours and good designs go into our jerseys . For eg personally I’d love to see our predominantly brown striped kit from a few years back make a comeback IMO one of the best use of our traditional colours of gold and brown that I’ve ever seen .

You're fine with them sponsoring us now? So all of the following posts on this thread bemoaning it was just you showing how fine you are with Skechers potentially being our kit sponsor?

Are we really signing with Skechers??? Surely not !!! I thought that was a joke .Does that mean the players have to wear their low rent bogan style shoes off the field?? Very disappointing and a terrible decision if this is the case .

In all seriousness though we mustn’t be regarded as a real marketable team anymore if none of the big players like Puma , Nike or NB etc want to touch us .

Who would want to fork out for a jersey with the “ Skechers “ brand on it I think the clubs merchandise sales will take a huge hit . The brand is just associated with being low rent poor quality and very cheap we will be laughed at

Disappointing if this Skechers deal is true though that’s a step backwards.

It really would be a disappointing decision if true I agree . Who would want to pay top dollar for a jersey with “ Sketchers “ brand on it .

For me and I’m being deadly serious it’s a marketing thing . For eg how would you feel if say ‘the Reject Shop “ decided to toss the $$$$ at us and our players were walking around with “ The Reject Shop” written all over the jerseys and tracksuits ??? Obviously the brand name “ Sketchers” isn’t as bad from an aesthetic POV but we are talking about a similar market ie low quality low price it doesn’t actually scream out professionalism. Put it this way you’d never see Man U sponsored by them . We’ve got 81,000 members and a big following these days surely we can attract a higher end brand

Exactly my thoughts a lot of people here seem to think it doesn’t matter but being associated with such a trashy brand kills our own brand .

Skechers has just always been a low end poverty type brand with poor quality.

Skechers are a low end brand they do a commendable job providing a range for low socioeconomic groups to be able to afford shoes

. And people here are correct in saying that our merchandise dept will take a hit and they are a huge contribution to the clubs overall bottom line hopefully the Skechers deal in $$ is big enough to cover this otherwise it’s basically a poor financial decision on the club’s behalf. Our ability to attract and keep players is affected by our bottom line so merchandise sales is important.Mate I’m pretty sure they issue Skechers Velcro shoes in prisons FFS!!

And, once again, players aren't forced to wear Adidas and many of our players openly shill for competing brands on their socials so clearly Adidas don't give the slightest **** - what makes you think Skechers are going to wield a heavier hand on this front than Adidas? If they did I am sure we wouldn't sign up with them knowing players aren't going to opt for wearing Skechers over Nike, Adidas, Puma, UA etc. So your fear of the players having to attend the PCM or Brownlow in a pair of Skechers probably won't come to fruition.

I still don't get the sketchers hate
There’s none really I just think because we’ve gone from a high end sports brand like Adidas for so long to a low end brand name like Skechers it’s probably more noticeable. At the end of the day as long as the lads look alright in the gear they come out with which some experts have said is going to be just RE-branded ISC anyway apparently that’s fine least we still got sponsers that’s the main thing I suppose.

Does it really matter? What's the most important thing about the sponsorship - the $$ value or the status of the sponsor?

Sketchers was chosen because they had the biggest $$ offer.....so for mine, that makes it the best deal.

We're a sporting club, not Balenciaga or Gucci.

Of course not Skechers have been good enough to jump on board and as recent news events have shown you never look a gift horse in the mouth . I remember probably as recent as only 10-15 years ago NB were considered to be at the lower end of the market but look at them now ,that company is flying , putting their name in every sport and well regarded just shows what can be achieved with well targeted sponsorship and marketing.

The white back panel is really ugly, whoever our sponsor is they better not bring it back.

Think adidas have done a much better job than Puma, however I have liked what puma did for Richmond and Carlton so maybe they would do better this time around

The traditional white panel jerseys back in the day used to be a white square of linen cloth that they sewed the black numbers onto then the panel would get sewn to the jersey . They did it that way because it was extent of the technology they had back then but printing and jersey material has come a long way and the white square should really be left in the past . I agree the modern day Puma jerseys look great but sounds like we’re not going with them .I really am hoping the predominantly brown Hawthorn strip makes a comeback as our home strip just to change and freshen it up a bit seeing as it really is the beginning of a new era whoever brands our jersey .

Had gift vouchers to use so we went past the hawks nest and no adidas gear left… mentioned the place looked empty and they were like we’re waiting (for new gear) so you can tell everyone knows 😂 53C98F69-1C06-4963-A4DD-0DD600CFA58D.jpeg 54E7137C-36D4-4878-BFE4-FC118E1BF09F.jpeg
