This is something fans need to be more generally aware of. This sport is played by people held together by tape, hope and sacrificing feeling to dull the pain of it.
It would be a better sport if it wasn't.

Fremantle Dockers recruit Luke Jackson impressing as Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw’s leadership stands out

‘Pretty crazy’: Action Jackson turning heads at Freo
Boom Fremantle recruit Luke Jackson’s “crazy” skills and athleticism are already turning heads at the Dockers, with the big man standing out as a forward during training on Monday.
Jackson joined the Dockers after three seasons and a premiership at Melbourne, where his ruckwork lifted him to the 2021 AFL Rising Star award and played a key role in the 2021 grand final triumph.
Fremantle are looking at new ways to build a forward line following the departure of Rory Lobb and Griffin Logue, and both Jackson and Nat Fyfe trained with the forwards group on Monday.
New forward recruit Josh Corbett said the pair had unique skills that made them stand out from the pack.
“As you would have seen at training today, some of the stuff Jackson can do is pretty crazy for a man of his height,” Corbett said.
“Sometimes he can play that small crumbing role but when he needs to stand tall, he’s definitely really impressive at doing that as well.
“Seeing Fyfe in the flesh is really impressive. His work rate and his ability to attack the contest is really impressive. I’m really looking forward to learning from those boys.”
Melbourne received pick 13 along with Fremantle’s future first and second round picks in the Jackson deal. Corbett was a much lower-profile trade, with Gold Coast receiving a future fourth-round selection.
The 26-year-old forward understands he is far from guaranteed to be in the best 22.
“I’d really love to play AFL football. That’s why I’m here to do. That’s what I want to achieve,” he said.
“I believe in my ability to play AFL football but I understand there’s no guarantees. I’m going to work my bum off to try to get in there the same as the other forwards, to get that opportunity.”
Corbett was full of praise for Fremantle’s training standards and the leadership of young stars Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong.
He said the Dockers’ attitude and fitness of the squad had been one of the standout features of his start to life as a Fremantle player.
“A lot of the younger group, particularly Caleb and Andy are driving the standards here,” Corbett said.
“I think that’s a really important thing, particularly at a club like Fremantle. It doesn’t matter about age groups. It’s about who knows their role and being able able to play their role.
“There’s no egos. Everyone is able to speak up in a comfortable environment and everyone is really well respected.”

Shame it’s all quiet on the reports front, all we’ve got to fap over is a photo of Fyfe’s guns - gahhhhhh
