I wouldn't stress too much if Ando only signs 2 years. The new CBA is coming isn't it so upgraded salary cap?

THE BIG 5

Noah Anderson 2023*
Charlie Ballard 2025
Ben King 2024
Jack Lukosius 2026
Matt Rowell 2025

Been pretty quiet in here, so I’ll just talk some shit.

2 A grade RFA targets in 2023 which are left field.

Jade Gresham, 25.

AA level type Goalkicking X factor forward who has high impact in the guts.

Basically a finished product version of Izak Rankine. There is a gap there on our list for Gresham, who was drafted and teammates with Fiorini (who went 2 picks later) and Macpherson at Northern Knights.

He would join fellow indigenous and former teammate Ben Long up if he joined.

He may feel if St Kilda are stagnating again in the 9-14th area, maybe a challenge on the rising suns is something worth looking at.

I did have a stalk on the Saints forum, and there was discussions on his potential departure. Saints could easily get a first round compensation as I would expect 4 years 650k minimum to get him. That would leave Saints with 2 top 10 picks if they fail to make finals and They decide not to match.

Jeremy McGovern, 30.

Now let me start off by saying, age is just a number. Usually 30 year olds are not to be targeted but from the success of Levi Casboult and now the departure of Rory Thompson. Are we not 1 A grade key back from a flag?

His million dollar contract will be up now and McGovern is easily the best intercept mark over the last 5 years.

Collins & Ballard are mainly interceptors themselves but with McGovern there wow, we would control the Metricon skies.

With the Eagles predicted to be near the bottom 4, my same key point is, if we offered McGovern a chance of another flag it would be silly to turn it down and the Eagles could get compensated very highly at either a first round or second rounder.

They have recently lost Kennedy & Redden, will lose Hurn, Darling, Gaff & Shuey all to retirements soon and get absolutely 0 compensation.

I reckon if we float a 3 year deal at 500-600k, McGovern would be an absolute beast.

Thoughts?

Both really realistic

Gresham is a super player, would be an excellent signing. Bad name though.

Big no to McGovern. Would question how motivated he would be at the Suns, really think we should move past targeting players that are nearly done. WC will need to pay someone during their re-build too. He might just stay where he is an get a few more years on big coin.

Shai Bolton should be the Suns target. A genuine A grader to compliment your rising stars. Mates with Chol. Will be tough to pry out of Richmond but he’ll demand top dollar and the Tigers already have the likes of Dusty, Lynch, Prestia, Taranto, Grimes and Hopper on good coin. Bolton would compliment Miller, Anderson and Rowell so well rolling through the midfield and half forward flank.

If not Bolton, Kozzy Pickett would also be a terrific get but I’ve heard he is likely to request a move to Port next year.

Ahhhh geez I just gave Gresh a stalk on Instagram and he’s latest post was from the GC…

Exclusive breaking news? …. Any context ?

Bolton would just about be in the top 3 players in the league for an up and coming team to pick.
Price would be huge

What do you mean 'bad name'?

Like literally the name Jade is bad?

I continue to get real excited about this year's draft and our Academy bunch. Just heard that Ethan Read did a phenomenal 2k run a few weeks back - around 6minutes 20. Can anyone confirm. This time from a ruck / forward is astounding. It looks like we could have two key forwards coming through. Ethan as a ruck / forward. Jed Walter as a key forward. Toss in Zorko like Jake Rogers and my 'darkie' Will Graham who is a junk yard dog defender / mid. Future looks good if all these come through in 2023.

Not sure about the 2km time but I did notice he was right up the front with our good runners on this Instagram story from the suns.

Ahead of at least 60% of the seniors who were running at this time.

If even one of those guys turns into a good AFL player then it's a win. Unlikely they all do but why not dream eh?
