THILTHORPE’S INJURY SCARE

Third-year forward Riley Thilthorpe rolled his ankle during a drill and hobbled off the track, but he was back jogging along the sidelines a short time later, considered to be fine. Thilthorpe played 11 games in 2022 to take his career tally to 25.

YOUNGSTER SIDELINED

Defender Josh Worrell has reaggravated a hamstring issue. Worrell sat out the session and the club planned to see how he pulled up to determine the extent of the setback.

RANKINE UNLEASHED

Off-season recruit Izak Rankine is no longer wearing a fluoro hat to indicate no contact during drills. Rankine had been in one from the start of pre-season after having shoulder surgery. Captain Rory Sloane (knee), midfielder Ben Keays (shoulder), defender Tom Doedee (shoulder) and SANFL marquee player Jack Madgen were wearing fluoro hats.
DEFENDER RETURNS

Defender Andrew McPherson has resumed running indoors, two months after undergoing knee surgery. McPherson, who played one AFL match last year, had his season ruined by a posterior cruciate ligament injury in July.

SOLIGO BUILDING

Second-year midfielder Jake Soligo jogged with speedster Tariek Newchurch away from the main group, then did some individual ball work. Soligo, whose impressive debut campaign ended with a 10th-placed finish in Adelaide’s best-and-fairest, was being managed. Newchurch, set to enter his third season after being rookie-listed from the Crows’ Next Generation Academy, was continuing to build his fitness.

■ Young gun Josh Rachele is still on a modified program due to a hamstring issue.

■ Forward Shane McAdam missed training because he was ill.
■ The most gruelling part of the session featured the players having to run between the edges of the centre square in eight seconds, before a short break, then repeating that three more times

Club doesn’t see it that way. He’s done way more than McHenry who might get a game.
Done way more than Mchenry?
No way, Mchenry averages more disposals which is an absolute blight on Jones who has played the majority of his career on the ball or behind the ball, not in our desolate waste land that is our forward line.
Averages more goals, more tackles and the same marks.
People need to stop thinking about Jones as the player you’d think he’d be at his pick rather look at what he’s actually producing.
He doesn’t hold a candle to Mchenry and that’s saying something.

Every snippet I've sen by the living geezus Will Hamill is moving sweetly..
I think this guy has such potential. Can defend, can attack, has pace. Only really needs to tidy up his kicking (can be good still). Would be a real shame to lose him to concussions (for a lot of reasons).

you would have murphy mchenry mcpherson ahead of jones? fair suck of the sav no way.... didnt he sign your tshirt at member day or something? 🤣

McPherson like for like crapness. McHenry and Murphy yes I’d have them in before Jones. They occasionally play a role, kick the odd goal.

That's 3 forwards in for 3 defenders out. Just can't see Murphy getting anywhere near the team with our likely inclusions.

Pedlar in as sub for Davis as sub
Rankine in for Rowe
Rachele in for Milera, who moves down back, with Parnell out
Sloane in for Worrell, fixing our balance as we played 8 defenders in R23

Guess we will just have to wait until round 1 to see. I would be very surprised and annoyed if Murphy is in the round 1 team.

McHenry

The bloke who’s tackles dont stick..
the bloke who runs around like a headless chook
The bloke whos so clumsy he gives away free kicks
The bloke who can barely kick 30 metres
The bloke who expends more energy than anyone else in the hostory of the game and yet achieves very little.

The bloke who, as a small forward/half forward, kicked 13 goals for 20 games last year and 11 from 21 games the year before.. so averages half a goal a game.

Jones is a better footballer.

But both, given where they were taken in the “super draft” and the players we couldve taken instead, have really been a complete bust up to this point.

We’ve really seen fxxk all from both to this point but, from what little we have seen, I reacon its Jones that has more potential.
And our clubs development of Jones in the first three seasons was deplorable.

No they couldn't, Hamill was out injured for round 22, so a backline spot remained open. If they wanted him in the side, he'd have played much earlier. We just needed to give Dood a week off so he could continue playing injured and poorly. Worrell demanding selection based on performance wouldn't have been part of their plan. Which is 2hy he won't be selected for round 1, assuming a full backline group to choose from. Milera slips in ahead of him now too.

In Rd 23 we played - Butts, Doedee, Murray, Smith, Dawson, Hinge, Parnell and Jones. Thats 8 players who play back (we also had Milera as well) and we still selected Worrell.

If your imagined vendetta was real, they could have easily dropped him in RD 23.

I’m not arguing McHenry is any good, but his traits can be fixed.
But you can’t teach someone to find the footy.
Jones looks as comfortable as Karmichael Hunt did.
