I thought Danielle Laidley was the first.I hope the first homosexual to come out in the afl is indigenous..
It's 2023 I couldn't care what colour/race or sexuality ppl are !!!
Amazed at pples comments
Jen2310 clearly did not mean to make a racist remark (in some peoples odd views)
It was just a comment on a players input from her source and frequent track watching

I think it's pretty problematic that it's become a thing during this off-season to be referring to our Aboriginal players as being lazy in their training.
Because these words such as "lazy" becoming ingrained in the minds of people on social media even if it is out of context or not completely factual. Maybe Johnson and Hill don't have a great tank, but using "laziness" is unfortunately a prevailing negative stereotype of Aboriginal people so I'm a little bothered that that label is being used almost exclusively for two of the three Aboriginal players we have on the list, and for no one else.
Don't try to come in with your faux middle of the road perspectives as if you genuinely care about issues such as that Kappa, because every post you've made on such topics has always been contrarian and gatekeeping without ever actually seeming like you give a s**t about addressing issues such as racism. Would LOVE for you to point me to where you have actually discussed "real racism issues" because you've hidden your posting activity so no one can verify if you actually ever have.
I'm saying that words matter - and laziness being used exclusively for the likes of AJ and Hill and for absolutely zero other players raises my eyebrows. Maybe they don't have the best tanks, but there are better phrases to use that don't have a particular weight to them, and that don't create preconceived notions about certain players in the minds of people who take opinions on pre-season training as gospel.
Jen you seem like a great person and obviously bleed black and white but this post kind of highlights Pragmatic Shrill’s concern. Saying that indigenous players do appear lazy in preseason is racist (in the last paragraph). I’m sure their is nothing malicious intended but it might be an opportunity to reflect on the language being used and how that can contribute to unhelpful racially based stereotypes.

Are you suggesting that raising concerns about language that supports racial stereotypes is actually racist? So your solution would be to never raise concerns, because doing so is actually racist? Genius reasoning.
Why does everyone freak out whenever someone mentions racism? It’s really not that scary. All we can do is continue to try to do better and that means engaging in the issue and being open to exploring concerns that people might have. Collingwood’s problematic history with racism means we really need to be more vigilant about it. That just means being open to acknowledging the ways that racism can can manifest - often unintentionally. There’s really nothing that scary about it.

Fair enough, I may have worded it differently than I intended. Apologies.
Lets say, some players do appear they act lazy during pre-season, and hence fly under the radar.
It scars you for life from a very young age.Racism is not just scary it is damn frightening
I did spent a few days running from shop to shop pre Christmas, butchers for lamb , marinate with oregano , garlic , lemon , olive oil , so off to the fruit shop I run , lamb is ready for spit on Christmas family lunch , next morning drive too Dan Murphy for wines .spirits and beer , run from car to beat the maddening rush. My pre Christmas running has been well received by my loved onesHe ran a poor time trial. He then spent a lot of the pre-Christmas period doing running sessions in his own time. Hardly what I'd call lazy.
It's important to focus on what people are good at.Hands up here who have regularly been to training and regularly focused on AJ and Bobby.
Life is short at times people. Not now, but it can be.
Also if having empathy, consideration, concerns, caring and loving is woke then yep I'm that.
If not, what's your preferred voice?
a-hole?

Blokes like AJ and Ginni (apparently not fast) are seen as liabilities...It's important to focus on what people are good at.
AJ has his weaknesses, but he's a great mark & kick for goal.
Who could forget the couple he kicked that bent both ways!

But you've begun the discussion by stating that it is only indigenous players on BF who are being talked about with the use of the term lazy and that it is a racist approach being adopted by people. It's not the same. It's common knowledge that Sier and De Goey returned to pre-seasons past in demonstrably poor physical shape because they spent their off-seasons getting on the tins or getting on the darts. And there wasn't any disputing of those extra-curricular activities occurring. THAT is lazy.
There is zero evidence AJ or Hill have done that, and just because they have a lackadaisical nature about them doesn't make them lazy.
I think you've got to assume positive intentions, but also understand that we're influenced by stereotypes and thus there is a greater likelihood of an indigenous kid whose endurance is a weakness being viewed as lazy, as opposed to a kid like Reef McInness being viewed as lazy. But you've begun the discussion by stating that it is only indigenous players on BF who are being talked about with the use of the term lazy and that it is a racist approach being adopted by people.
We're pointing out that non-indigenous players (Sier, JDG, Stephenson) are also being called lazy, so it is hard to imply it is a race-based assessment being applied broadly by the forum members when using that term.
If I was Captain of Collingwood I'd have a team of Rottwielers, Shepard's and Pitbulls.
Agreed. I did write Also...Having those virtues / values is imperative in life but labelling someone a racist when they are not is also pretty ordinary.

Cameron Wood was lazy, I called him lazy & worse many times.
Sometimes you just need to ask "Where's your head at."
Back to regular programming tomorrow! I’m just trying to find out if they are having a morning session or… like sometimes after a break they have been known to have a session in the afternoon.
Match sim will ramp up from now on
