So 6-8weeks recovery time if it’s just a standard punctured lung, another one of our forward prospects which sucks wrap Oscar in bubble wrap please

Is it that long? (google says yes, but I thought it was a slightly shorter recovery).

The other issue is how was it punctured? As that is usually by the ribs, in which case they tend to take longer to heal than the lung itself.

Suppose it depends on the severity, looked back to when nicnat punctured Sandilands lung in 2016 and looks like Sandilands was supposed to miss 6 weeks according to an old article, but ended up being out til round 20 last game round 3, there could of been another injury in between tho.

Hope it wasn’t pneumothorax. They are rare but can happen in footy. Can be more serious / life threatening at the time but if resolved then actually short term recovery - a couple weeks to all good again. I remember the Petterd one which was dicey as linked below. Really hope he’s stable and all sweet, poor bloke

“I’m just grateful to be here where I know I’ll get the best out of myself.”

“Coming over here, I feel like there’s great support around me and that will get the best out of me,”

“Growing up in the community, family is a big thing and culture, and I feel like this club has that in spades.”

These are all direct quotes so it’s not an interpretation of what he said

The inference, to me, is that the support for him wasn’t there at West Coast and is why he didn’t get the best out of himself.

For 2 years whilst he was banned the club supported him through his self inflicted legal issues which included him returning to live in the NT with his family (where he got himself in further trouble smuggling weed through an airport)

In return the club simply asked him to return in good physical condition to repay the faith they’d put in him. Did he do that? Maybe, maybe not. Certainly not to the extent he seems to be doing at Port

If ever there was a case of a player owing a club it was Rioli at West Coast. He turned his back on the club so as far as I’m concerned he can GAGF

Keys he will need to produce the goods very quickly otherwise he will be in for some grief.
The Port rabble turn on their own very quickly if they don’t deliver.
If that happens to Willie he will need a lot of support because he is quite emotionally fragile and immature.

As few games where he gives away his customary 50 meter free kicks that cost the side a game will rattle the port natives into a frenzy.

Touch and go for round one……. Argh isn’t that Eagles speak for he should be available in the second half of the season.

Forgive me, but I don’t believe much that’s spewed out our Clubs mouthpiece, as history has shown time and again that their spiel is deceitful and not to be trusted.

Getting increasingly cynical as decrepitude approaches at a scary rate.

Good news with Darling i guess
Jack Williams can't catch a break

Should we have a crack at junior Serong?

I watched the live feed of the press conference and fwiw Simpson seemed pretty genuine. Very much looked like someone who was relieved after expecting the worst and he explained that the delay was due to them making sure it was not significant

Fully understand your scepticism, especially around injuries, as the clubs record in that regard has been poor for some time. That said, my observations this year are that the S&C department are operating differently to prior years and in a good way

Obviously, we won’t really know for sure until the season proper gets going but it feels like some lessons have been learned and significant changes made in that area

Imo, it was actually a pretty good press conference, not least because a competent journalist like Mark Duffield was asking good questions. There was another voice who I couldn’t recognise also asking some good questions as well

Without knowing the details, it feels like the club got a scan Friday and the ankle was quite swollen - which impedes the view somewhat.

So they waited for swelling to go down on Monday for an additional scan to confirm the original diagnosis.

As frustrating as it is for us supporters, that is how medicine works sometimes especially scans etc. This is a better result than a Friday arvo announcement of all clear, followed by a Monday/Tuesday announcement of 'whoops, once the swelling went down we could see the actual injury and it isn't great'
