I'd rather get games into Johnson or even Eurasmus than Hughes or ol mate Acres

They are the future

I agree long-term that Ras and Johnno are the future but I’ve got no problem if Hughes is the one keeping them out initially, provided it is on form and merit. Hughes has a lot of similar physical attributes to Acres but he’s probably quicker and definitely harder than Blake. I agree with others in that his decision making under pressure can be questionable at times but on the other hand he should know the system pretty well by now.

He’s been a loyal servant for a long time now and if he can reinvent himself to grab a spot in a contending team I couldn’t be happier for him. He’s a no frills kind of player but you can back him to put his head over the ball and not take a backwards step 100% of the time.

I agree. He's the type of warrior that you would hope can establish himself in a good side. If any guy deserves to play a final or two it's Hughes.

I’d rather see Hughes named in the game day 23 than Banners. And on the wing his sometimes slow decision making is far less of a liability. You know you’ve got a player that will never take a step back and all teams need 2-3 of his sort.

That said nothing could please be more than seeing Henry actually step up and cement a place in the team

Fremantle’s pre-season games against Adelaide and Port Adelaide have been confirmed by the AFL.

Love that they are doing Intraclub game on my day off . Coming after school drop off , looking forward to it I live out near the Swan valley so don't get to go very often.

You’re far too pessimistic though. 12 months ago you’d not want Blacres anywhere near the starting 22. Players can improve and with a bit of competition for spots for once, we should only get to see players who have earned it.

I’d rather go Henry or Johnson but Hughes is a good like for like replacement if the others don’t work out.

He played in the match sim las Saturday and the one before too at Freo Oval so he's been about the place and doing fine. He was used on the way out of defense by his team in the Freo Oval game quite a bit and did it effectively. A bit quieter last weekend in the half I saw. He missed some time so is a little behind the others but he's doing it all at the moment.

Wagner is the one who has been missing for longer but I'd be hopeful he might see some action today. Maybe not but he's been getting close.

Hughes performance in the WAFL finals as a winger was atrocious. Any idea he could make it as a winger should have been blown up at that point. He’s a depth defender.

I am down there with someone "for a meeting" so may need to do some work but should be able to get a look at a few things some of you are keen on that maybe hasn't been covered much so far.

I have a mate who has asked to see who addresses each team with purpose to get a Capt view so I'll post that for him. For me I'll be having another look at the forward and midfield mixes again plus I want to see what big Onions is looking like and if he plays at all. I'll be checking out the wings as well and tryiong a bit to annoy my other mate with the Henry bug in his bonnet. Hopefully Liam repeats his last 2 and we will officially have a trend.
