Despite all the talk I reckon one of Casboult and Jeffrey misses out. Dew is trying to kept them keen.

Doesn't hurt to have competition for spots. And there will be injuries.
Jeffery has converted to the main team (if you go off the socials) (Red guernsey)

Not a Suns ITK but its fair to pressume that any training session now will be Red & Blue guernsey as they have finished "Preseason" and gone into match sim/regular season mode now.

Rosas was a blue guernsey yesterday 🤔

Keen to see how Davies progresses as a forward.
If we can get these 'midfielders' like Davies, Flanders and Swallow actually contributing up forward, will make a massive difference.

Have seen glimpses with Davies.
8 goals in 15 games last year with good forward 50 tackling.
Remember that 55m set shot in the rain after the siren during last years preseason?

If we can get someone who can pressure and tackle, take a mark, kick a few goals, pinch hit in the midfield - it's pretty valuable.

Sam Powell-Pepper finished 5th in Ports BNF last year and would be a good on field role model.

Agree, Davies is probably the most ripped bloke at the club, wouldn't wanna be hit by him.

He just needs to get involved more, still has low time on ground. Hoping for a breakout!

As mentioned, one of the key issues the team faces is an abundance of tall forwards and a lack of tall defenders. The team has struggled to find suitable players to fill this backline void, resulting in losses and inconsistent performance last year. A possible solution is Levi Casboult. Yes, Casboult is a tall forward but has experience playing as a defender. His transformation from a key forward to an interceptor across half-back was pivotal in his career-best season at Carlton in 2020. His marking ability could make him suitable to fill the Suns' lack of tall defenders when we play teams with three tall forwards or teams with 200cm forwards. This also relieves the forward line of too many talls.

When we play the taller teams, why not play him as a 200cm utility in the forward line 30%, bench 25%, ruck 15%, and backline 30%? If he was fresh off the bench, he could become a headache for opposition coaches to combat. He would only need to play 10-15 games for the season in a role like this.

I would back in Casboult on a key defensive role but it would be a match up based to free up a Sam Collins.

Players like; Fogarty, Walker, Mihocek, Wright, Hawkins, Gawn (Fwd Rotation), Dixon & Lynch. The slower/monster types

Wasn’t Dew just blabbering the other day about wish they went harder to bring in Casbault earlier.
Need him to crash packs and take the gorilla etc.

Doesn’t sound like Dew wants him in defence or playing 2s
Could be a puff piece, give Levi confidence he's not just depth and he's good enough to play with Chol, King & Luko.

No knee strapping too, looking real fit and healthy. Could play anywhere

I think what will take Lukosius to the next level is his goal kicking. At the moment he isn't reaching the potential in this area but I think he becomes a player who regularly scores goals from outside the arc. If he can it is a super dangerous forward line as defences will be getting back to stop king/ chol/ Jeffery and to have someone hovering around the 50m who can still score will be very hard to defend. I'm backing him in, I think he has a breakout year.

Max king apparently out until round 7?
Good news for us.

I know only an intraclub but he looked more comfortable and confident on friday floating around the 50m arc making leads running hard to the boundary line until the ball was dead and a couple nice set shots too.. we will see if he can convert this to real time games

A pseudo forward/wing role is definitely his best spot. You want him delivering the ball into the 50. Not being the kick before that.

A case in point is tomorrow afternoon's match simulation against Essendon; who can play on Peter Wright? He’s 203cm. Collins is 194. Surely, Casboult at 199cm would be the best big-bodied option we have.

Wright kicked 2.3 from 8 marks against us last year. Horrible day for Ballard & Collins. He was getting fed on a plate that day tho

It looks like Fiorini is only signed till the end of the season (at least according to Boswell).

‘The grass isn’t greener’: Gold Coast Sun Brayden Fiorini reveals trade epiphany

After playing just 14 senior games in 2022, the 25-year-old, who is contracted until the end of 2023, engaged in trade discussions with multiple clubs in seek of “more opportunity”.
“Me and Dewy have got a respectful relationship. (We can) be honest with each other.”
“There was a bit of interest there, we worked through a few things with other clubs but it got to the pointy end of the trade period and I sort of realised the grass might not be greener at another team.
“I feel like I can still have an impact on this team as well.
“Being here for seven years I’ve loved my time here, my partner is up here, this is pretty much home at the moment.
Fiorini didn’t comment on his future at the club, but is expecting a child in six weeks with long-term partner Molly-Rose Dale, who is also originally from Victoria.
“I feel that it was handled in a really respectful and mature way,” he said.
“I’m just glad that it ended out staying here in the end, I’m over the moon to stay here.
“If I was to leave it would probably would have been back home, but I see up here (in Queensland) as home anyway.
“It wasn’t like I was trying to get back home to family or anything. We love it up here.”
