Experience and success

please dont quote me that VB was key to west coast premiership. absolute fluke he was there at the right time with a strong list and other coaches around him

You can ignore what you like.

Van Berlo has been in multiple successful AFL programs. As has Nicks. As has Burns. Rahilly had a lot of success at Geelong before coming to us. Bello was a VFL premiership winning coach, working for many years with Clarkson at Hawthorn. Even Godden -who this board shits on - was a SANFL premiership winning coach and tooking the Eagles to the finals every year for a decade. And Clarke is the most successful coach in AFLW history.

No coach wins a premiership without a strong list and other good coaches, seriously

And who's that recent multi premiership winning Richmond bloke spotted regularly moving around the corridors at West Lakes ..Reckon he might have a bit of input if required....;)

Think he goes by the name of Shane..

Burns and Rahillly in particular have come through very successful football programs...you really need to do some research before posting flawed assertions
Isn’t there a bit of a red flag with burns that clubs have improved after he left?

Also has been in the mix for head coach positions but always remained an assistant.

If Nathan Buckley said he'd like to be head coach here, would you agree with that?
What about if he said he just wanted to be midfield coach?

Hypothetical wandering ...it's Wednesday

shane is a good get from a successful programme

sorry the others which premierships have they been involved in as off-field staff? okay vb was lucky in his one season at west coast. right place right time it wasnt him that created the premiership.

Rumour has it when he was a doctor in Casterton and playing there, rode it to Mt Gambier played and road it home😲

He did indeed. Remember rucking against him when I was in Mt Gambier. A real strange cat. Played in an interleague game with him too. He was a very good ruckman in the WBFL back then. But man, he was different.

I don't think you want him to get much bigger personally. He wants to be aiming to be a Jack Gunstan type where he can use his speed and agility to best players. I don't think he has the smarts if Gunstan unfortunately but he has a better aerial game.
I don't know why people keep making the Gunston comparison regarding Gollant. For example Jack's 20m sprint time is 2.98 https://www.beaumarisfc.com.au/jack-gunston.php

We have made a thread for the times of our players. I am aghast that more have not read or digested it despite it being repeatedly made avaible and posted and then make assertions regarding peoples aerobic ability. For example Gollants 20m sprint time is 3.15. Despite some similarities in build, position, and some traits, they are quite different players with some quite different atributes Resource - Some testing results - updated for 2023 - now with 200% more Rankine

Connection must have something to do with it, I can kick a drop kick further than a drop punt, if it comes off right!
I'm old enough to have played football when the drop punt was 1st used. (late 60s) The consensus at the time was that it wouldn't take off because you couldn't kick as far as with a drop kick.

I disagree, I feel like his current size leaves him in no man's land. Where smaller faster, or bigger stronger players will go past him.

I'd like him to build into Charlie Curnow's frame. Who is both agile and powerful for his size.

They are the exact same height, but Curnow is 11kg heavier then Lachie is currently listed as. However, they may be last years numbers.
Be interested to see his weight now as opposed to last year. Seemed bigger and more powerful against Freo.

Saw sportsbet are getting stuck into crows fans for overestimating our chances this year based on 1 preseason game. I literally haven't heard anyone, on here or irl, say anything like that. Click bait i assume but why?
sportsbets social media team have been basement dwellers for awhile

So 0.17 of a second difference?

Yeah..

Gollants waaaay slower..

The difference between gollant and gunstan is one’s at the end of his career and is a proven champion of the game with numerous flags to his name..

The other is Gollant..

Can Gollant reach the same heights as Gunston?..
doubtful.. he’s still got time but he’d wanna get his skates on!..

So would you say AFL players kick further than SANFL players, because they do more strength training

No.

Part of being a long kick IS about strength but most of that strength is God-given.

You could make very trivial gains with increases in leg and core strength but they’d be so minor they’d hardly be worth pursuing.

The Ben Grahams and Anthony Roccas of the world have a gift. Sure, they practiced that gift, and harnessed it, and they also have very good technique.

But it is still a gift. You’re not kicking like those blokes by doing more leg weights.
