Well, we know umpires now classify a drop kick in a contest as incorrect disposal .....still, it was a beautiful skill to behold for the best exponents
Bob Shearman the best I ever saw...Russell Ebert was handy too..

If you saw JHF play on the weekend, you'd be foolish to downplay how good this kid will be ......just powerful !

We still would have got Dawson & Rankine ....there are always ways, as other Clubs have demonstrated
Jury is a long way out on JHF. There wasn't anything in particular on the weekend that would make you think superstar. Hope it works out.

There are also trades that DON'T get done every year because clubs don't have the assets. Their agents wouldn't have let them publicly choose us if we couldn't get the deal done.

I might be the only one but I thoughtt Tyler Brown was OK, especially early where he racked up a couple of decent clearances for the yellow team.
Clearly can get the ball but his disposal was as bad as anyone on our list. Just kept finding freo targets (almost at will)

We have the weakest coaching setup in the AFL

match days are going to be a problem even with a better list
I'm very happy with Rahilly and Burns seems fine.

We've bolstered things from the development side of things so that seems all good.

Midfield is a glaring issue.

Would like to see us bring someone in to help our talls with contested marking.

Interesting ....most applauded the Coaching structure when announced

Given we have no knowledge of what the coach's do behind the scenes, I don't know how you can judge .....except maybe Rahilly, who is being given a lot of plaudits on our fwds

Have you seen some of the other Clubs Coaching panels .....a lot of no names, and 2nd rate footballers .....so it's impossible to benchmark

Anyone know how much Lachie Gollant's weight has changed this offseason?

A couple of pre-seasons ago he had that big 13 kg spike and still looked super lean. He does look like he's still gradually getting bigger, but TBH I was kinda hoping for a bit more size by the completion of his 3rd pre season weights program.

I'm just going on track record nothing else... its an inexperienced group overall

Actual

Actual footballing ability has little to do with coaching ability that said. A lot of the better coaches have been what you'd class as journeymen on their on field exploits. Clarkson, Hafey, Lyon etc etc

How so?
Burns, Rahillly, Clarke, Godden all have been in the coaching ranks for yonks.

I don't think you want him to get much bigger personally. He wants to be aiming to be a Jack Gunstan type where he can use his speed and agility to best players. I don't think he has the smarts if Gunstan unfortunately but he has a better aerial game.

I disagree, I feel like his current size leaves him in no man's land. Where smaller faster, or bigger stronger players will go past him.

I'd like him to build into Charlie Curnow's frame. Who is both agile and powerful for his size.

They are the exact same height, but Curnow is 11kg heavier then Lachie is currently listed as. However, they may be last years numbers.

Rahilly, Burns have significant AFL runs on the board. Clarke goes OK in the AFLW, not sure how important ruck is. Godden has done good things in the SANFL (before he came to us). Even VB was involved in a successful program at WCE. Think our assistants are pretty good tbh.

Nicks is great at man management, pre match planning seems decent, tactically/game day needs to show more this year.

track record = AFL success. where is that in that crew including nicks?
Burns and Rahillly in particular have come through very successful football programs...you really need to do some research before posting flawed assertions

VB = AFL premiership with WCE 2018 as assistant coach
Rahilly = AFL premiership with Geelong 2011 as assistant coach, runner up 2020
Burns also been involved with WCE, Hawthorn and Collingwood either immediately before or after premierships, so was involved with programs that produced success
