Finally got a preview of sorts up and running in the OP. Sheesh, still 9 days left. Had to let the praccie matches take their course and see whose available, ya overly excited bunch.

I keep reading you guys say we will win and win well. I have nothing against optimism, but we are playing a side that has beaten us up for approximately a decade. The time we beat them (round one last year) happened through a last quarter fight back after their best player had gone off injured. And to finish the picture, their greatest area of weakness (midfield) has been substantially strengthened in the off-season.

None of this is to say we can’t win. But I’m personally going to temper my expectations.

But they have new areas of weakness. Riewoldt seems to be in serious decline and they have no recognised key talls to help Balta down back. Where is our greatest strength? Things would have to go seriously bad in our midfield for Harry and Charlie to not grab a mini-bag each.

Happy to believe you on all of that ODN. And I do hope you’re right. Fingers crossed for a win.

I urge you to look at the lack of confidence on the first page of the Tigers preview thread. Unless they are all being sarcastic, they have concerns about aging players and injuries.

Riewoldt is still good for 2 goals a game from a flop and being smart enough to get in the right position.

Interesting… I may have a look (so long as one of the mods around here can provide me with some sort of de-lousing treatment on my return 😂)

Even Tigers supporters are concerned about their lack of defenders.
A battle of the midfielders again for the win,in my opinion.

Don't Richmond have Grimes, who toweled up Charlie last season? Our problem isn't Harry and Charlie kicking goals, its the other 10-12 players around that part of the ground to help them.

The consensus on the main board is in favour of Richmond, which I think is a less bias indication of where this game is expected to finish.

Plus we kept giving them a loose behind the ball all game by playing our HF up at stoppage ..
Precisely the way we played against the pies in the practice match, which in my mind suggests we will do similar. Clearly I dont have the footy nouse but I hate when we let a team have a player behind the ball. So many teams play slingshot footy off half back and letting them have a spare plays into that. What good are clearences if you're not getting the second or third possesion after it.

Neutrals will keep tipping against us until we actually earn our reputation.

So I take it you think Grimes will beat Charlie and you're tipping Richmond?
