IF everyone in the football media was held to account for things they said in private conversations THEN there wouldn’t be very many left. Mr Sliding Doors would be out one too I suspect

The guy made a comment on a woman in a private chat that got leaked. He apologised and lost his job (which was a huge penalty). Doesn't bother me that he gets a second crack (though he was a bit of a shit journo, so would have thought they could do better).

If you went through all my past private conversations and messages I'm sure you'd find worse than what he said. The context and audience is important, private conversations are very different to public.

Did you miss this?

Basically boils down to a drunken Morris saying "I'm not a woman, I'm not gay, I'm not black, so treat me with respect. Also waah."

He deserved the sack just for being stupid enough to say that stuff in public, no matter how it was intended.

Lol - I did miss that.

I agree with this - although announcing it on International Women's Day probably wasn't the smartest move.

To be honest at this point that's on you. They've delivered to the exactly as expected.

Ultimately that’s all we can do. If enough people stop watching maybe, just maybe, they might wonder why and do something about it

Unlikely I know but if people keep watching they certainly won’t change

First Footy show I have watched since mid last year and as usual had the wait until the very end to hear their take on the Eagles.
And once again spent half the time on the Eagles than every other team.

Not much point paying attention to these opinions anyway as no doubt most of those involved have little knowledge (or interest) in the club.

"Oh the Eagles? Well, they used to be good; but they're now old; but they're not so injured now so I'm expecting them to bounce a bit this year..."

"I've been hearing great things about Luke Priddis as well, so I'm expecting we'll see a big year from him..."

Absolutely starved of Footy ATM so yes it was a risk, a stretch and ultimately a disappointment but come on BF can only satisfy some of the hunger until the real thing cranks back up. Hell BF itself is going a little wonky in some posts and threads, have you seen some of them lately.

Is this Simmo's way of saying Credits in the Bank will be honoured even if it costs him his job?

Simpson: "I've got three years left on my contract..."

End of 2025 contract confirmed.

Club couldn't afford to dismiss him even if they wanted to right now - going by that, the end of 2024 is when the performance deadline seems to be looming by his statements.

Weren’t they social work drinks type conversations about other workmates though? Like just because it’s after 5pm if you’re having work drinks and talking about colleagues, I’m pretty sure it’s legally not treated the same as you just talking shit with your mates.

Not saying he should be put in prison but the organisation that employs him is taking on a bit of baggage.

Depends on how you interpret that statement.

Do you count this year 3 years left...because technically we are in this year.

Simmo contracted to the end of 2026 confirmed.

Normally I'd agree with you but given the guy is of very limited talent one would have to assume that he got his original role due to some sort of inside connection. The determination to then give him the sack would have been because someone equally as powerful behind the scenes was offended/didnt like him.
In a very average field, imo Tom stands out as one of the poorest footy journos around.
That's what happens when AFL journos are employed based on who they know and not as true journalists.
The fact that he now gets another crack despite clearly not being very good showcases how insular the industry is.

It was a group of mates on a whatsapp group. I assumed they didn't work at fox, otherwise they would already know what he said about the woman.

Anyway, as someone else pointed out, he'd had another indiscretion that I wasn't aware of, which wouldn't have helped either.
