Wonder if the Perth option can be revisited now that Barra is the president?

It’s a win-win for both parties.

I think he was campaigning pre-season on basically a platform of "Make Perth Great Again"

They are stubborn and want to retain their identity, but their identity has been WAFL cellar dwellara for years now

Honestly we should end this exercise it's adding additional damage to our brand which is taking enough hits from what the seniors are offering up.

How have we gone from being one of the best run clubs to one of the worst in the last few years?
A good question?

Stale, encrusted leadership? Loyalty is good but not at the expense of rational decision making. At this stage it looks like it will be at least five years before we are relevant assuming we move on an upward trajectory.

So, how'd we go?
The WAFL won’t let us field a team that is viable if there’s three injuries in our AFL squad, and it’s all Nizzy’s fault.

Also heard the WAFL boys got to see their friends and family today so clearly not serious about it.

Naww thats nice. New motto maybe?

Friends. Family. Not so serious about it

I know its gonna upset some, but has to be a better way

Can't complain about lack of development when this is basically the norm over the last couple of years for our kids to go out get whacked week in week out

Maybe we could get the WAFL to let the Beagles drop down to the Colts comp, might actually have some close matches there.

For perspective , Only 4 AFL listed players played of which 1 got injured in 1st q so WCE basically fielded a WAFL reserves team ..
C'mon even the Demons could have done better...checks Demons score. I'll show myself out.

But given how often it happens that we don't have enough fit players to field a semi competitive team, anything else has to be better. Even if we have to send our guys back to different WAFL clubs as horrifying as that sounds to some.

Even if it's just "bad luck", it's become the norm to not be able to field a competitive side. Continuing on with the setup we have is just stifling development and has done for a few years now.

Between us and the WAFL clubs a compromise has to be found so we are able to field a competitive side when player availability is an issue but prevents us from being too strong when when it isn’t

In the lead up games we were playing around 12-14 AFL players plus Nelson and (Alec) Waterman. We won all 3 games - 2 narrowly and 1 against an understrength Subiaco by 5 or so goals

We need to be able to recruit about half a dozen Nelson/Waterman types- decent WAFL level players so that when we are down to only 5 or 6 listed players like today, we’ve still got 10-12 players that aren’t ammos

The trade off needs to be that when our availability is at a more normal level we get limited to say 12 AFL players so that we don’t get too good. Any players over 12 maybe play with the Perth reserves- reality is that there is only going to be 3 or so most of the time and they’ll be players at the bottom of our list like Baker or Dewar

Playing 14 or more ammos level players against seasoned WAFL sides ends up like today.

Spot on, but getting the other WAFL clubs to agree to anything, and then recruiting the players seems to be the sticking points. Ultimately, the host club arrangement is the ideal scenario but that looks unlikely aswell.

Regardless, we're stuck with what we've got now for this year. The question is do we spend next summer negotiating for more concessions and just hope it works out better next year or do we go down a completely different path?

It'll be at least 3 years (granted covid and all that) of less than ideal development for our kids...

Something like you suggest needs to be done or the farce needs to be wrapped up.

It‘s an embarrassment to everyone, records such as Keitel’s 10 goals lack credibility.

Thank god we landed a forward with enough raw talent like Oscar.

Im fairly sure expecting a young
KPF to develop under these conditions is not a reasonable expectation
