Please don’t bring Barrett’s sliding doors rubbish here. That’s not the Hawthorn footy club in the media.

That’s a desperate article, trying to get clicks every week.

Its a fickle game . Impeys kick travels another foot we win and go 2-3 , GWS go 1-4.
Kingsley goes from doing a really good job to under the pump .
We are then ruining our draft hand

Probably a good reason to not take it all too seriously from the media

Is Robbo back at work? I thought he was crook again?

Like (or worship) him or hate him, geez he's done well with that "The Tackle" column. Back and centre of the HS for decades with what is effectively a BF main bored post.

Have heard he is pretty ill , dont know any dets though .

Most of his stuff is garbage , especially since the 'saga'. Would be the most hypocritical journo depending on club involved .

I feel like a Buckley-type is just what our coach's box is missing. The Swans have looked dynamite since Don Pyke took over their midfield, we know Clarko had his string of gun assistants, and I just don't see that from our current staff. Hale, Kade, and Chris are all alright as line coaches, but we don't really have a strong deputy. If we could get someone like Bucks across as a senior assistant I feel our development will go very smoothly. Maybe wait until after we get the ball rolling on a winning season first, but to compete for a flag either an existing coach needs to step up or we need a good head.

FWIW I think Littlejohn is brilliant from what I've seen at Box Hill and could very well come into the fold as an up-and-comer. Much better than just throwing in an old-boy AFL player, I still think the AFL is a step behind other leagues with our policy of giving coaching jobs almost exclusively to ex-AFL players.
The Yanks really understand that coaching is a profession.

And the thing is Sam has already answered this exact criticism to Kane weeks ago. We've improved dramatically in the midfield since cutting T.Mitchell and O'Meara. We're winning the clearances with a refreshed midfield group. It's the putting the scores on the board that we're struggling with. And even though Sam wanted to keep Gunston, I don't think we'd be any better off in that department given his performance at Brisbane so far.
Mitchell Lewis together with an up and coming Rama might have made a difference. Let alone Day.

We're blessed to have Collins back in the fold. Hugely underrated.

Not to shoot too far off topic from this thread but would like to echo this once more.

Andy Collins and Zane Littlejohn are two of the best development coaches going around at the moment. That’s something that a lot of people in the media are failing to recognise, with the exception of maybe Jimmy Bartel.

Whenever I hear Jimmy Bartel in the media I'm struck by the fact that here is a guy who actually has a clue about what goes on in the AFL and knows his s..t.

Which just highlights the amount of drivel that gets spoken by other footy "experts".
What I always remember is that for five years these media experts talked up our "A" grade midfield of Mitchell and JOM even though we were getting smashed in the position week after week.

Would be ridiculous to play him in the VFL. It's hardly safer to bring a player back on worse quality grounds and likely in worse conditions.

I understand they can manage time a bit better in the VFL because it matters less, but that's what the sub is for.

We all let this happen.

It definitely took a few clicks to realize what was being served up, but then some folks definitely like being triggered more than others.

For some reason outrage is addictive in most people.

Targeted media like cable news (Sky, Fox, CNN etc.) rely on triggering their audiences nightly through talking heads/opinion type programming. The more outrage, the better. We're all AFL fans, with huge bias against different things in a passionate game. Easy pickings for someone like Kane Cornes.

If you make your audience angry enough and target them in the right direction, they'll keep tuning in.

Sad but true.

Ignore Barrett please.
Correct weight.

This isn’t the whinge about Barrett thread.

It’s Hawthorn in the media. Not random bullshit that annoys you in the media. brad sue well I’m looking at you.
