Please don’t bring Barrett’s sliding doors rubbish here. That’s not the Hawthorn footy club in the media.

That’s a desperate article, trying to get clicks every week.

Pretty good write up about our performance against the Dogs.

Actually quite positive on our progress as a team although I think the journo has underplayed some of our structural issues (up forward especially).
Thanks for posting, good read

IMO it actually sounds like a journo that reported the full quota of pro Hawthorn news he was allowed before he would've been reprimanded. We all know these days you never go full Hawthorn praise because it doesn't get the clicks 😂

Kane Cornes was also on the AFL round wrap today talking up what Hawthorn are building and how impressive we were.

Now, yes it’s Kane, but he could quite easily lay the boots into us for our second half, but instead he spoke about how we had the better of the dogs for 2 and half quarters and how he could see that we’ve started to add different layers and elements to our play and have started to look more composed.

Kane has been pretty consistent. Didn’t rate our list as it was a couple years back as a result of Clarko’s desire to trade in mature players. Was making the calls that we had to strip it back which we now have done. Outside some early season doubts that we might have stripped back too much all at once he’s been quite supportive of our season on SEN.

Mitch has him on a string imo and plays Kane like an absolute fiddle. Handles the media pressure better than many I’ve seen before while still being interesting enough to listen to.

I actually don’t find Kane insufferable though I feel like it’s super obvious to distinguish when he’s trying to get a rise out of a particular person or supporter base vs when he’s just genuinely saying what he thinks to be true.

Mitchell’s job is safe for the next few years and expectations are still low. He’s not under any legit media pressure just yet, even after those early bad losses.

Good article and it makes sense Sam gets credit for how the midfield has tracked since we “gutted” it, but also it says a bit about how David Hale’s going as Midfield coach!

Does he write exclusively Hawthorn articles or something? I swear there’s been multiple great articles on us that paint us in a positive light
Each of the AFL journos have a group of teams they are responsible for. Josh has us and a couple of others. So he stays more informed on us (assume he watches our games) than the rest of them (Riley, Cal etc). Pretty much any time any other AFL journo talks Hawthorn it's clear they have no idea about us and definitely don't watch our games!

Straight bat answers you'd expect from Reeves, but thought it was interesting that Cornes acknowledged the club at the end for being so open and transparent to the media which Cornes said they appreciate. Definitely a change of strategy from Clarkson. I wonder if this was something Reeves and Clarkson came to blows about as Clarkson was always very guarded with the media and gave Gil a wack earlier in his career (for which he later apologised) when he found out coaches were forced to do media commitments on game day. Also think its a good strategy for getting people like Cornes on side by building relationships with the media rather than fighting them.

I’m deleting Barrett’s negative hot takes.

That’s not Hawthorn in the media, that’s clickbait. May as well post in here what Bradkli is saying, and no I don’t actually mean that.
bradkli posts more constructive stuff (yes negative and critical chicken little sky is falling style) than barrett
thats how shit barrett is

Totally agree.

If you see a pile of dog shit on the footpath you don't stand there for twenty minutes critiquing it - you just step over it and continue walking.

Can we bring in a don't feed the troll rule for media?

We shouldn't have to give someone so desperate for attention exactly what he wants in this thread ever again.
